General Commentary and Game Overview
OK, I'll be honest. I'm one of about three people who haven't actually watched that little horsey cartoon. As of yet, I have resisted the temptation to tune in once just to see what the hype's about. For that reason, I'm probably not qualified to pick out all of the absurdities in this game that I likely missed in this review. However, this is one of those games that leaves you thinking, "I've got to write a review for this." I don't mean to make fun of the author of this game or anything, but this game needs a lot of work.

Wario Land: Legends of the Six Crystals takes the initiative of throwing Wario into a universe inspired by My Little Pony characters. And as you might be able to guess, it doesn't turn out very well, even though it's something that could grow into a very fun game.

Pros + Unique crossover concept
+ Stars a character rarely seen on MFGG
+ Some unique power-ups
+ Good music selections

Cons - Bad, bad dialogue
- Graphics clash big time
- Wario's physics are way too slippery
- Iffy level design

Impressions
Gameplay
3 / 10
Where do I begin? Basically, you control Wario, and you can perform standard Wario-ish things like charging through walls and pounding through floors. The engine also introduces a decent array of power-ups, including one that allows Wario to soar across long gaps. The mechanics need some work, as Wario turns way too quickly when changing directions. This problem makes some levels frustrating, since many of them require you to jump across narrow vines, and it's quite easy to go too far and fall into a pit.

Most of the enemies in this game are, as you may be able to deduce, My Little Pony characters. These enemies, while slightly absurd, basically serve the same purpose as Goombas, Snifits, and other meanies commonly found in fangames and indie games.

However, the game comes up short - very short - in the area of story and dialogue. Besides the issue of the "bad fanfiction" feel that pervades the game, the grammar is simply awful. Lines like "Pony's?! They destroyed my airplane? IS TIME TO SHOW TIME!!" dominate the cutscenes, and while I understand the developer might not be a native speaker, the poor command of English results in many situations where the game is hilarious when it's not supposed to be hilarious.

Graphics
2 / 10
The graphics clash. Badly. This game makes use of pretty much every graphical style around, and they don't blend together at all. The hodgepodge of 8-bit and 16-bit sprites is especially rough on the eyes.

Sound
8 / 10
The music in the this game features effervescent chiptune MP3s that do a good job of fitting with the game environments. These aren't the overused Super Mario All-Stars SPC conversions that still dominate the Mario fangaming scene, so I appreciate hearing some songs I didn't recognize.

Sound effects are OK, but improving the SFX could really spice up this game.

Replay
3 / 10
At present, this game is just a four-level demo, and it has such serious flaws that I don't think you'll want to play it again... unless you found the dialogue amusing.

Final Words
3 / 10
Friendship is magic. This game, however, needs some more work to become magical.

Yay! I'm the third of the three people who haven't watched that show! I've seen/heard 245 pony user icons, 467 signatures with a picture of it, and 20,486 people who talk about it.

Don't get me wrong, I've seen the adverts, and I manage to change the channel the second I hear "My little-". So I haven't actually watched it, but I know the style of the graphics.

I'm not about to get into a discussion here, as all I did was come to read the review, but I'm just going to say this because this kinda thing bugs me:

Don't judge before you have seen it yourself. Trust me, this time last year, if someone told me and the other bronies we'd be watching My Little Pony, we would have called them crazy. Like I said, I'm not going to start something here, so now that I've got that off my chest, I will say no more here on the matter.

I've watched it to see what the hype was about. It wasn't good, thiugh. But, why is the conversation just about the first sentence in the review?

I've never seen so many bronies. Why would I be one? Cool review.
