General Commentary and Game Overview
Now, let me start off with this review saying that ken martin clearly stated that this game was made a year ago, and therefore I don't expect this from him in the future. Moving along, Super Mario Bros + is essentially a carbon-copy Super Mario Bros remake that, while it does play quite well, it doesn't try to add anything new to the experience. I find it hard to review a game that is basically a copy of an existing game, but here I go.

Pros - Native gamepad support (:D)
- Graphics that as far as I know were custom sprited for this game
- Does very well in what it was designed to do, recreate the original Super Mario Bros. game

Cons - Doesn't add anything to the original Super Mario Bros. experience
- The same..exact..MIDIs.. we've ALL heard a million times already

Gameplay
6 / 10
Well, it's SMB. And it does a very good job of being that. The collision, while not perfect, is very clean, Mario, while he is a little more sluggish than in the original adventure moves very cleanly. The enemies behave much like there original counterparts. One thing that I was thrilled to see when i started the executable was a gamepad option, which may be more common than I think, I've been off the fangaming scene for a while.

This being said, this game features NOTHING to innovate on the original Mario formula. Every aspect of the gameplay seems to be a carbon copy of what we've already played. While it definitely isn't bad, there really is nothing that makes it stand out against anything else we've already played, and played, and played again.

Graphics
9 / 10
As far as I can see, this is really one of the only real "pluses" in this game. Honestly, before I ran the game I was expecting the same disgusting SMAS sprites that newcomer developers always seem to get hard over. When I finally started the game, however, I was pleasantly surprised. Most, if not all of the graphics used in this game seemed to have been custom made or at least edited so that they look pretty enough. The smooth rotation effects seen throughout the game were very pleasing, and the custom Mario and enemies were very nice looking and professional. To add a bit of modern flair to a classic (Nh) many of these sprites seemed to be modernized, (Koopas walked on four legs, fireflowers danced from side to side) was a very nice touch. Even the edited tiles, while not perfect, were much more refreshing than the same tiles we've seen already. It is truly the graphics that make this otherwise unspectacular game worth playing.

Sound
3 / 10
Ugh. This is definitely the worst aspect of this game, and if you're going to use these sounds, you might want to rethink the "+" moniker. These are the same exact SMB and SMAS boring tasteless MIDI's that we've been tired of since fangaming was new. No, there not bad sounds per se, but it's been years, I'm sure we've come up with far better MP3 or ogg sounds by now..even some littler used MIDI's wouldn't be awful. But, harshly put, the creator took the easy way out when it came to sound.

Replay
5 / 10
Well, did I overall enjoy playing this game? Yes. Was it a worthy remake of one of all of our favorite retro games? Of course. But do I think I'll be playing it again. Doubt it. It was a smooth, interesting remake of the game everybody loves, but because it simply fails to provide the same feeling that the original game did, and because it didn't add anything new to the table, I don't think I'll be playing it over the original. I have my GBC with Super Mario Deluxe in it and my NES within armslength of me, I think I'll stick to those.

Final Words
5 / 10
Although it looks nice, the pleasing graphics don't hide the fact that this is just another bland overplayed Mario remake.
