General Commentary and Game Overview
Super Mario Bros. Super Quest is a demo containing three stages. This doesn't really matter, though, as it is unlikely you'll want to finish the first.

This appears to be one of Mario350's first games. Nonetheless, I find it absolutely terrible, and I hope he avoids making the same blatant errors in his future games.

Pros + The creator is actually attempting to code a game from scratch as opposed to doing a lazy Hello Engine edit.

Cons - Terrible physics
- Constant voice clips that will make your ears bleed
- Zero eye candy and unattractive stretched graphics
- Actually, perhaps it'd be best to say that just about everything in this game is bad.

Gameplay

Well, let's start with the physics. They're absolutely terrible. The characters have very fast horizontal speed without any acceleration. The character inexplicably stops in midair when the left or right arrow key is pressed. The character's sprite flips when he changes direction when it should stay in place. Honestly, the character physics are just plain bad.

Then there's the enemies, which are poorly coded as well. The first three or four goombas (which are too big if you ask me) can't move, and the other enemies move regardless of whether they're on screen or not (you should be deactivating the instances when they're offscreen). I'm not sure it's even possible to defeat paratroopas by stomping them.

Really, the gameplay in general is just bad.

Graphics

The backgrounds are hideously stretched, and it looks like the tiles aren't well stretched either. The background for stage 1 and its tiles are SMB3, which are seriously overused, and the character/enemy sprites don't really fit in with them anyway.

Sound
1 / 10
MFGGers should be familiar with how often voice clips are played in Hello Engine, and how annoying it can be.

This is that mutated into a nightmare. If you jump, Mario opens his trap. If you collect a group of coins, Mario shouts for each and every one of them. If you listen to it long enough, it just might make your ears bleed. Constant voice clips ruin any fun that this demo had. Not that it was any fun.

Replay

I couldn't bother to get past the first level because it was so bad. If I'm unwilling to complete the demo in the first place, how can I find any replay value in it?

Final Words
1 / 10
It might be a demo, but it has no excuse for being so bad.
