General Commentary and Game Overview
Hold on a moment there...What the heck did I just play? Apparently, Boo Mansion is a poor man's Pac-Man-ish game. A really, really, really poor man's Pac-Man-ish game. So poor he would be living under a rock. For at least 3 decades.

Traditional to demos, Boo Mansion locks up after a certain level. However, unlike good demos, it locks up with an error. I guess there wasn't enough time to make a new room with "Thanks for Playing!" or something.

Pros -Um....uh......er.......hmm........

Cons -Control
-Error screen
-Ugliness
-Lack of music
-There could've been 100 levels made in an hour or two, but nope. Instead we have only a few made in perhaps 2-5 minutes.

How the heck does one screw up the controls for basic 4-direction movement? It's become new knowledge for me that that's actually possible thanks to Boo Mansion. You can still move Boo, but it's only a matter of seconds before the controls lock up and cause Boo to halt, making Boo a pain to move around. The levels are composed of coins, magic potions that turn blocks into coins, and Piranha Plants that LOVE smacking their lips. Your main goal is to collect a key and bring it to the door, rendering coins entirely pointless. That said, it's not hard at all, but one collision with the Plants and you restart the whole game. A sign of "brilliant" game design.

Ew. Gross. YUCK! That's only a few of several of the same reactions I've had when gazing at the screen. The coins and Piranha Plants definitely look like they were drag 'n dropped onto the rooms without rhyme or reason. Would it really kill to slow down the Piranha Plants' mouth animations?

Oh, yeah. Let's not forget that error screen.

Sound

You can only hear either coins or a death sound. Next.

Y'know, Pac-Man is on literally everything these days. And we even have some Pac-Man-inspired games here on MFGG. I suggest play those instead.

Final Words

I think it's time we get some better quality control.
