but once done there it creates a 'us_pc' folder in the same location where all of that main data is and inside of that 'us_pc' folder is the main exe etc. that 'us_pc' folder is all you need after it's done which is roughly 50-70MB if I recall correctly. but then I added the 'HD' textures to the game (cleans up the hud text as it's no longer pixelated and improves overall graphics slightly) which raises total game size to over 300MB.
p.s. my previous main post pretty much covers all of this.
Did you start the game at least once? ; if not, start the game as my Windows version automatically generates a 'settings.ini' file in the root of the "us_pc" folder, which I then have to tweak to get it to use full-screen 1080p (1920x1080) as it defaults to 720p (1280x720), so it runs in the top corner of my screen (which is not right), and DirectX11 as using DirectX11 on Linux with the Windows version of the game has performance issues (claims 60fps but when moving camera etc you can tell it feels off) but once I change it to DirectX12 or OpenGL through 'settings.ini' it runs butter smooth at that point. I generally just run the native Linux executable though since I am on Linux as that defaults to OpenGL etc.
additionally... I built both Windows and Linux versions back in Feb 2025 (which should still be current since nothing has been tweaked since Jan 2025) and I don't see no 'options.ini' in root of the main 'us_pc' folder. on mine it's 13 folders (I got 14 but it's because I slightly modified mine to use the HD textures instead of default ones) along with six files in the root of the 'us_pc' folder (endian-and-bitwidth/level_rules.mk/savedata.bin(this is the games save data)/SDL2.dll/settings.ini/sm64.us.exe)
my Linux version is almost the same with the exception it stores it's configuration and save data in a different location (i.e. ~/.config/SM64Plus/ ; which the settings.ini and savedata.bin is here). so on the Linux version I only have three files in root of folder (endian-and-bitwidth/level_rules.mk/sm64.us(the games executable file))
Maybe It could be because I compiled with sm64pcbuilder2

Adding a review. I'm coming for you :/ This game ran perfectly on my laptop xD since it's an MSI. Unfortunately... this game was quite brutal. "Best Mario Kart fangame ever" is giving it too much credit. I played another one that controlled way better.
What Mario Kart famgames do you recommend this is the only one I could find, I still plan on playing this one but variety doesn't hurt
