Hey everyone!

I'm here to announce that I am the newest addition to the MFGG staff team, as a Main Site Moderator! I would like to say that I'm honored to be chosen among such a talented pool of applicants, but … I was the only one who applied. (Unless you count that one application that was immediately discarded for … reasons.)

But really, though, I do consider it to be an honor to be part of the team. (WARNING: LONG STORY AHEAD.) I remember when I first discovered MFGG. I don't remember how old I was, but I was definitely not old enough for my parents to allow me unrestricted access to the internet. (How was I supposed to know that I wasn't allowed to use the Nook Color's web browser?). I found this place through a rather complicated and indirect way: First, I discovered Mario Kart Wii mods. That led me to the website of Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii. There, I found a link to a now defunct forum about NSMBWii modding. After getting bored of that, looked through their affiliate sites, and the first one I clicked on was the one for SMBX. I didn't pay too much attention, though, and I looked to see what the SMBX site linked to. That's how I found MFGG.

When I got there, I didn't download and play any games. (I was using a Nook Color, after all). Instead, I just spent a few good hours just browsing the catalogue, just looking to see what was there and using my imagination to figure out secrets each game could hold, or to try to understand why a everyone was complaining about a certain game. (I didn't understand at the time that clicking on a review would lead to a more detailed explanation). I didn't know the forums existed at the time, just the mainsite. I didn't stay long though, as my Nook Color privileges got taken away after my mom found out what I was doing.

Fast forward years later, the summer before I started high school. That was about eight or nine years ago. My grandpa had just given me a laptop. I didn't go on the internet before then, so I didn't know any cool websites to go to. Remembering my time with the Nook Color, I loaded up MFGG. Oddly enough, I didn't download the games that I was eyeing years before, instead going straight to the forums. After lurking for a while, I built up the courage to register an account on the phpBB forum. At first, I only posted in the forum games section in an attempt to get people to "warm up" to me. Eventually one thing led to another, and I started trying my hand at game dev. After a year and a half I left MFGG for a while. It was mainly due to realizing I had an unhealthy addiction to MFGG (not the internet, MFGG specifically). I decided to go cold turkey and just vanish from the community.

Although my sanity eventually recovered, I was apprehensive about coming back to MFGG, purely due to my fear of interacting with people I haven't seen in a while (it hurts more than it helps). I did come back though, mainly due to my Gameboy project that I was working on (as an "excuse" to come back to MFGG). I started by lurking on the forums, then posting on the forums, and the lurking on the Discord, all the while procrastinating on my project. (I did eventually finish it, though). And, well, now I'm here.

Back then, I never thought I would be "cool" enough to join the staff team, so I want to thank the team for taking me on. Not just the staff, but the community as a whole, as well. I could name names, but then I would forget someone and feel bad about leaving them out. So I'll just say this: if you're wondering if you're on that list, if you made a difference during those times in my life, if I remember my time interacting with you fondly, you most definitely are on that list. MFGG has had a huge influence on my life in many ways, and I learned so much during my time here. I want to thank everyone involved. And I sincerely hope that all of us together can keep MFGG one of those places on the internet where people come for the content, stay for the community.

(END OF LONG STORY)

So, anyways, long tangent aside, you're probably wanting to see the updates. I've been going through the queue for the past couple of days, so there is absolutely new stuff for you all. There's still stuff to go through, and we are continuing to process these other submissions the best we can, so keep an eye out for more updates!
