This game is acceptable at best. The controls are sticky, it's hard to get powerups out of the ? blocks, there's NO music, leaving the game feeling lifeless, and the HUD often appears below the tiles. I would compliment the engine, but... it's Hello's engine. It's a great engine, of course, but it's completely unoriginal. I don't mean to be mean, but there are really a lot of things to be desired in this game.

Very nice! I love the graphical remake you gave it. You should double check some of the blocks, bud.

I really don't like the graphical color choices in the least. Or the fact that the game still contains all the annoying glitches from the glitchy engine used. I'm surprised at how often Hello's SMB1 engine is used for games, since it's probably one of his lowest-quality engines - at least compared to his more major works. EDIT: Oh yeah, I'll mention that screenshot too. Please change it to an actual shot of gameplay. Seriously. |

Nice. The head on collision with the blocks is a bit off, but the rest is great.

I played it, but it isn't very good... At all. First off, some more creative level designs for the first stage would be nice. Second, the music is boring, dull, and overused. Use something else please. Third, The graphics are ok, but all they really are are recolours. Fourth, The hud is ok, but it went behind the tiles alot. Fifth, there was this pipe in the second stage, but it was just tiles. I wlaked right through it. Sixth, Better backgrounds. They stung my eyes and now they bleed of pain. Seventh... oh wait that's it. I might wright a review but as of now... |

I noticed you are missing some items from the first stage, and I don't know if you are including other stages, but you should definitely use this website http://www.ian-albert.com/misc/smb.php It has all the SMB maps. I tried making something like this once, and what I did is set the maps as backgrounds and placed the objects over the spots in the background while editing the room. |

I don't exactly find a remake of SMB1 with recoulered NES graphics fun. Try to make your own ORIGINAL idea, not make a total copy of a game. Also, check some of the blocks. Some ? blocks won't activate when you hit them. |

It's not really a "total copy", seeing that it has different levels except for the first one. That's not to say that the levels have exceptional design by any means, though. No offense. And the block glitch was always present in this engine, by the way. Of course, it still would have been better if that had been fixed in this game. |

However, this uses Hello's SMB Engine, which is incredibly buggy, and the level design is very lackluster. An example of a great SMB game that I'm sure Grant likes is Super Mario Bros. DDX by G-Worx. To be honest, I'd be surprised if anybody liked this. Although by now, it looks like it's been scrapped. |

It's just that, like ZK said, games made with this particular engine and without the glitches fixed, simply cannot impress me. |

Quote (8-bit Gamer on Jun 12 2008, 2:24 PM) man give a guy A BREAK! You made the game in your free time, which is what most people on MFGG do; make games in free time. "I had free time so I did this" is not an excuse for a poor game. Reacting and saying "well this this and this" just lowers your image and makes you look immature. |

The "remastering" of first level isn't complete! A bonus room, multicoin brick and star brick are missing! Fix it and it will be... still bad game.

I remaster a LOT of levels, its insane! my ideas for levels have low complexity, low difficulty, the placement for enemies and powerups are near impossible, and the levels are normally short
