General Commentary and Game Overview
Yoshi vs. Windows: an instant classic, or something like that. The original release was apparently popular enough to spawn several remakes: Yoshi vs. Windows Gold, Yoshi vs. Windows Silver, Yoshi vs. Windows Gold Build 2, and so on. And now, we at last have the "official" remake - a remake to end all remakes of YvW.

Pros Clever level design, neat graphics and effects, level select.

Cons Little variety in enemies, little variety in gameplay, and little variety in just about everything aside from level design.

Impressions
Gameplay
6 / 10
Eat enemies, advance to next level. Eat enemies, advance to next level, repeat. The gameplay is nothing special. It's above average if nothing else. Let's face it, people enjoy this game not because of how it plays, but because of the levels.

Graphics
8 / 10
Speaking of levels, they are rather cleverly designed. You'll have Yoshi jumping though windows, icons, Minesweeper, screensavers, DOS, the dreaded Blue Screen of Death, and more. Along the way, you will see some rather 'purdy' effects, such as blurs, shining rainbows, and brilliant usage of transparencies. Just beware of playing this game on a slow PC.

Sound
7 / 10
There are specific themes for the different types of levels, much like in the official Mario games. A nice touch. Also, one improvement over the original YvW is the addition of sound effects (whereas the original had barely any). Yoshi also has a voice now, done by Yoshiman. While its an impersonation, it sounds shockingly similar to the official voice. It is not terribly annoying, but some may quickly grown tired of it due to its repetitive nature.

Replay
8 / 10
Beating the game awards you with a level select, which allows you to go back and play your favourite levels, providing a surprising amount of replay value. An improvement over the original is the saving system at the start every level, rather than the old password system once every few levels. This gives the player more incentive to complete the game, and cuts back on frustration.

Final Words
7 / 10
Play it just for the levels. ...hmm, there is no problem in that.
