These are well done. If you want to make a more SMB3-esque crouch pose you can have him protecting his head with his hands rather than grabbing the hat, as someone would do when crouching to avoid a hit. I don't think it's much of a problem though as the SMB crouch position you used here works well.

It looks nice. My only complaint is that it looks like he has a straight nose instead of his signature round one.

Great sprite. I haven't played the game either so I'm not sure what the enemy does, but funnily enough I actually bought the game just a few days ago. I haven't been able to play it yet though since I had it shipped to my home since school is ending soon.

Nice job. I'm not a fan of the black mouth on the fire sprites though. Since it's considerably darker than any other part of the sprite it looks a bit like an endless void that we can get sucked into if we stare at it for too long. It also just attracts too much attention because of how much darker it is than anything else.

The colors are very pleasing. The hands disappear on the fire colors in the standing poses though. There just isn't enough contrast between the white of the overalls and the tone of Mario's skin. I'm not really sure how to fix this as darkening Mario's skin would make his default color less effective and making the overalls darker than the skin tone would make them look like they'r either not white or they're in a different light than he is, which is not ideal. Maybe you should try darkening the skin just a little bit so that it's still bright against the dark overalls but darker against the white overalls.

Nice job. It's good to see a new member on here. You might want to watch your shaping on the powerups. Those mushrooms are looking a little blocky. The mix between outlined and lineless on the powerups is also kind of weird. Actually, the SMB style doesn't use outlines on most objects, so the outlines on the powerups might not fit in too well with the super Mario Bros style. You've also got a white pixel on one of the legs of the star. Keep working at it! :)

Baby Mario has an over sized hat and a nose a bit larger in proportion to his head than adult Mario's. I think representing those key features of Baby Mario will help a lot in making this look more like a baby and less like a small man.

I went back and looked at the sprites, and you are right they do use a fourth color sparingly. This one uses 6, and the extra colors are not used sparingly. I know it is doable but next to the official sprites of the playable characters this one looks much more detailed. Again I'm not against it as I think it looks nice and if someone wants to use it they can easily edit it to have less colors, it was just an observation.
