As you probably realize by now, the MFGG mainsite has been a bit finicky in recent months. Some rogue bots have caused the site's performance to grind to a halt at times, and there have been a few issues with the mainsite update system. I hope that the recent changes I've made have fixed some of these problems.

Fun Fact: An old friend of mine passed her medical exam and has finally earned the right to practice medicine! This fact is probably not terribly interesting to you, even if this same person made a really random cameo in an update way back in April 2016. That probably isn't a terribly interesting fact either. Maybe it shows that if Vinny randomly mentions you in a mainsite update, good things will happen to you, even when said things have very little to do with Mario fangame development. I am not a medical doctor, so it is best that I stick to playing Dr. Mario... and maybe doctoring up MySQL databases.

I hope this small collection of sprites - and confirmation that I've shooed away a legion of overzealous AI bots - is more interesting to you.

It's been a little while since there's been one of these. Enjoy an update with birds that steal plumber headwear, a not-very-big version of a not-very-big Mushroom Retainer, and a castle tileset perfect for a Koopaling who wears glasses.

We've had a few technical gremlins lately, from a couple of years' worth of updates temporarily disappearing to an army of AI crawlers slowing the site to, well, a crawl. All these issues have been resolved by now, though. Though if something isn't working right, please speak up!

Community Fangame Project 3 Announcement

This is not a drill, this is real

We have started planning the brand new Community Fangame Project and we want you to join us in this iteration, we have prepared a Discord server for this purpose which link im'ma leave here.

We have 5 roles you can choose from:

CFP Dev
CFP Artist
CFP Composer
CFP Tester
CFP Level Designer

Once you join the Discord, do send me a DM with the areas you want to contribute with.

We will be using GameMaker and Gatete Mario Engine 9 for the project. Like I said at the start of the topic, we are currently on the brainstorm phase so all ideas will be appreciated

Those who select CFP Dev or CFP Level Designer roles will need an account on GitHub and some knowledge in using repositories.

	You might have noticed that the last news post here is from 2021. Yeaaaaaah, see, there's a reason for that Short version: Someone compromised a staff account, deleted all the news posts, and promoted their own stuff. No need to worry though because we do have backups and will restore things fully soon. HTML... times five

In case you missed the announcement on the forums, or Kritter's new game, or my not-quite-exciting test submission, the MFGG mainsite now hosts HTML5 games! Yep, MFGG is now able to host games that you play in your browser. HTML5 games should work on any reasonably modern device, whether you use a PC, a Mac, or a mobile device.

HTML5 game hosting on MFGG is still in its infancy, so if you run into any technical hiccups, be sure to speak up so we can look into them. We've had a few reports of audio issues, for example.

If you have an HTML5 game you'd like to submit to the MFGG mainsite, send me a PM.

Also, it's been brought to my attention that Super Mario Continuance Chapter 2 by NatDuh never appeared in a mainsite update, even though it's been on the mainsite for a few months now. I'm not sure why the mainsite update system decided to glitch out here. Regardless, Super Mario Continuance is a unique take on the Mario series and deserves a shoutout.

Minigame Competition and Level Design Competition results are up!

Here I come with the results from both Minigame Competition and Level Design Competition

I'll start with the Minigame Competition first, we only got two entries on this one.

As for the first level design competition, we've got 16 entries on the competition and for our surprise... we've got a triple tie with 7 votes each.

Here I come with a brand new update for y'all

In another news, the very first level design competition on MFGG has concluded with 16 entries!

The voting period for the level design competition will last a whole week

As for the Minigame Competition, we extended it until the 15th of this month. Which means you have 4 days to submit an entry for it.
