This game has some pretty serious issues, mostly in areas that have more depth. The video will freeze, polyons won't be rendered, or in the worst case scenario, the whole game crashes. The only way I've found around it is to increase frame skip. I thought it was because my laptop was too slow and the game had issues when it couldn't reach full speed, but then I opened task manager and found out that my CPU, GPU and RAM were all below 40% usage, so that clearly wasn't the problem. For some levels I've had to increase the frameskip to values as high as 4. That's 15fps. Barely playable.

I'm really digging to NSMB-styled custom graphics we've been getting lately. It's rare to see anything that isn't 16-bit style and plus NSMB-styled graphics are useful my project :)

Your tilesets are very cool but also very limited. I'd suggest you to add more slopes and corners. Also, you can't connect the reverse slopes to the roof tiles.
