Oh! I remember you from the Star Rod Discord! It's quite the surprise to see you posting your custom Paper Mario sprites here!

I could try that if I have the time, but for now I'm pretty busy :(
I'll have a bit more free time soon with the Christmas break arriving, so perhaps I can get that done if I finish some other things I wanted to do.

Fair enough. I'm in no rush for additional sprites, and I'm a busy guy myself.

In any case, enjoy your Holiday break!

Any chance that you'll give this version of Princess Peach sprites for a playable role?

I remember using a Dry Bones edit you created years ago! I edited it into Dry Bowser.

It resembles a chestnut still in its burr.

I never played paper mario yet I like this

Give it a try one of these days! I'm sure you'll like it as long as turn-based RPGs are your thing!

Love your art style :D Also I like those "Rayman Limbs" XD

I originally considered using actual arms for Dry Bones, but I went with the "Rayman look" instead.

Anyway, while I'm glad that my puppet piece sheets are rather popular, I'm wondering why the view count on my Koopa sheets blew up in such as short time. Heck, I'm still wondering why my Dry Bones sheet is more popular than my garden variety Koopa.

Did you actually create this from scratch? No edits whatsoever? If so, mad props for improving your skills!

Why should we keep him away from Starmen and Cape Feathers?

If you've played Super Mario World, you'll understand.

No, I mean, it's Paper Mario: it's supposed to look "cardboard-y".

Oh! Right! Thanks for clarifying!

I also think it looks more "cardboard-y".

Hm, you're the second person who pointed that out. You don't have a problem with it, do you?

No, not a problem at all. I just want to know why you chose that way of making the characters.

Believe it or not, the art direction is based on an old "drawing" style from more than a decade ago. Due to my lack of experience with Adobe Illustrator's pen tool, I didn't quite get how curves work. As a result, my images were rather polygonal. More than a year ago, I ran into a tough situation with a previous art direction. In the end, I took the old art style I abandoned and modernized it.

All of these Paper Mario characters seem to have some "low poly" thing going on, where their hands and such have fingers that come to a point. Is it supposed to be like this?

Yes, the angular look is intentional. That's not a problem, is it?

Cowabunga, dude! These sprites look great, man! Really like the artstyle, a Paper Mario game using that artstyle would be really interesting!

Thank you very much! I get the "these should be in a game" comment a lot. For now, I'm satisfied with just placing them in an animation.

Hi! You're good for making Paper Mario sprites!

I'm glad you like my creations! If you think they're good, everything I've posted so far in the new art direction will end up in future animation projects by yours truly!

I have no idea who this guy is or what game he came from, Or why he's all blocky or whatever word you use to describe that not smooth line look. But it's still a pretty cool sheet.

I'm glad you like him! Now, to answer your questions...

- He's from the original Paper Mario game on the Nintendo 64. He's an optional boss that blocks the Pleasant Path. Unless you exploit his weaknesses, you're in for one heck of a battle!

- As for the angular look, it's based on an old art style I developed more than a decade ago. The other Paper Mario sprites I developed all have this, but I can see that it's more noticeable with large characters.

And, why is Nabbit's body cut in 2 parts?

As someone who works on Paper Mario puppets, my best guess is that the top part is supposed to rotate. That way, Nabbit could bend his body and nod his "head."

What is "rig"? Oil koopa rig?

Allow me to explain.

A rig is the term for a puppet (particularly one created in a digital environment) after it is fully assembled and controls are fully implemented for operating it.

Looks like a cross between the Super Mario World Yoshi and the Yoshi's Island. With that said, they're much better than the former and I'd like to see them in sprite animations.
