General Commentary and Game Overview
Mario Lost His Boots is a very different fangame from David Niemeyer. this time, Mario, well, lost his boots, and since then you can't defeat enemies by jumping in them. It may sound a bit weird, but it is actually a good idea/concept. Too bad the execution of this idea was quite bad.

Pros +Original Concept/Idea/Plot
+Custom Art

Cons -Faulty Installation Wizard
-Bad Level Design
-Lots of Glitches
-No sounds
-No cutscenes/story

Impressions
Gameplay
5 / 10
The goal of the game is to collect all the keys in the stage to be able to complete it (and get in a Game Over screen). I mean, there's no blocks or anything else that resembles Mario gameplay, despites the coins...and Mario himself! The idea about that you can't attack enemies because Mario isn't wearing his boots is quite funny, through. I just think the wrench weapon shouldn't be SO glitchy.

Graphics
8 / 10
They're custom! YES! This IS a good point! Even if they look a bit ugly at first look, they all fit in the same style(call it an "ugly style", if you must). The good side of this choice is that we're not getting abother fanagme with Super Mario World or Bros 3 sprites. Of course, it seems it would be a better choice if David asked a spriter to do some sprites to him, but those sprites blend well together.

Sound
2 / 10
There's absolutely NO SOUND. Not even when Mario pick up coins. There's just a very repetitive MIDI. The only thing i can say is: Well, at least there's music.

Replay
3 / 10
You're not replaying this game because there's simply nothing to do despites clearing the stage. Not even cutscenes. Not EVEN a hand-draw pixelart for an ending screen (well, there isn't an "ending screen", anyway. Unless you count Game Over as a ending screen). You'll just play it because of the funny concept/idea, and you only play it for some time.

Final Words
5 / 10
The game's idea is new, funny and original. But the game fails to execute this idea. Play if you must, but keep in mind that the idea sounds funnier than the game itself really is.
