Happy Anniversary!

It's amazing how long the site has been around. I still remember when it didn't have what is now referred to as the "Classic MFGG" skin.

Oh my god I remember this one all the way back from yoyogames.

I've tried playing this game on the original bandainamcoent.fun website, but I keep getting a page that says "We're coming soon! Stay tuned!". Is there a problem?

For some reason, the English version of the site doesn't work. I've tried the French site, and the games work on it (basically replace the ww in the url with fr).

I see what you did there

Very cool this is on MFGG now. I've been hearing plenty about it.

The game still plays as horribly as it did when Mario was the protagonist. Guess that's what happens when you make another 3D platformer just three months after the one everybody gave feedback on.

Can we please not call it Fangame Disk System?
It was a famicom add-on released exclusively in Japan and never in the US.

Just for that, I suggest that's exactly what it be called.

Wow. "The Dumbest Game to ever exist on mfgg" straight-up vanished shortly after I commented on it.

Your reviews back then always stood out to me (in a bad way) and left me with a bad impression of you to be honest. They always sounded way too harsh and not very constructive. I'm not sure if you review stuff now, but it'd be interesting to see one if you do.

I did see those couple comments. I just didn't say anything because it was rather justified and I had no means of showing I've changed my style here.

I've actually served as a reviewer for The Inner Circle Games Network these past few years until this January. They're not as well known as mainstream publications, but I've gotten to cover plenty of 3DS, Switch, and PC games. There even have been some developers that responded positively to my feedback, so I must have been doin' something right!

I played this to see how you've improved, since your other games from years ago are... uh, not so great.

I played a few levels and I have to say that's it's very much an improvement. I'll have to make a review when I finish it.

It's okay. You can say they were trash, lol. I tried too hard to think I was pushing out content significantly, and I simply didn't have the knowhow I currently do to, for the least, make something enjoyable.

I am not even really a fan of my old reviews; looking back, I made my rhetoric sound too much like a cynical whiner.

I would definitely be interested in seeing that review.

I got through 8 levels so far (9 if you count the BwB Megarocket) and I'm having fun so far! I noticed that some obstacles don't act exactly like how they do in Commander Keen (the Butler Robots, for example, push you in Keen, while they kill you in here), which kinda threw me off a few times. Once you get past that, though, it's not so bad!

It's always nice to see some appreciation for Commander Keen around here! :)

I'm glad to hear!

Admittedly, I changed their behavior somewhat because I wasn't quite sure how to program bouncing from the side. Meanwhile, there already was code for Mario bouncing off something by jumping on it, so you could still do that with the robots. I felt like it at least made sense on account of being Mr. Stompy himself.

There are a couple other things I probably could make clearer in-game or via a "hint book" so to speak. Perhaps in an update. In the meantime, I would like to add for anybody reading:
1) Any teddy bears you collect are only counted towards the total collected when you beat the level they're in. Talking to the pink adult Toad triggers the Teddy counter.
2) Big aliens still cannot be touched by the player.
3) There are ending tiers depending on how much you've cleared on the game. There is no "bad ending" per se, but meeting certain criteria can add a cutscene or two.

Considering all the negative reception to one of the first 3d Mario games I've seen on this site and (maybe) ever I've seen so far, I'm pretty sure from my current perspective,* Hello wasn't at his best when he did this engine, and I'm pretty sure he'll do a much better job next time. :-)

Though I do have to go along with Mattdraw and say that too: I appreciate the effort.

*Just to let you know, I haven't tested the game myself yet, and I may still if I decide to, but so far reviews are making me decide otherwise.

You oughta have a look at Super Mario Legacy and I think what's called Mario Adventure

I like that you're trying a 3D game for a change, but...Well, it very much feels like a first 3D title from a developer, I can say that much.

Mario feels slipperier than the marble from Marble Blast. And Mario's not a marble.
Jumping on Goombas is way harder than it should be, let alone precise platforming.

I recommend doing simpler 3D titles before trying to take on the Mario collect-a-thon.

Scores (literally) crappy ganes low, makes crappier games.

I mean they're not Mario350 level but geez.

Considering I was in middle school at the time of making them, it only makes sense.

Participated rather late in the tournament, but it looks like I'm at 3rd in the standings, so all's good.

Small advice - It's highly recommended you not use the word "New" in the title.

New Super Mario Bros. is over a decade old, and it ain't new anymore.

Why does that matter?

I'm sorry I'm posting on a fairly old review, Jack, but this review is a bit...how should I say...bias? I played because you clearly stated

So then I played it, and my expectations were high. I was kinda disappointed. I know a opinion is a opinion, but seriously. You're kinda rating this game too high.

I'll be writing a review about this game so I can show everyone why I didn't enjoy this as much.

Yeeeaaah I've learned not to use words like those....
I forgot that this even existed, honestly.
