General Commentary and Game Overview
Wow, if only every mario fan game ran this smoothly, had this much gusto, and was as well-put-together as this. Lots of cute power-ups and special effects. Mario has lots of his moves left over from the 3D games!!!! It has a halloween theme, if only every ORDINARY fan game had this quality!

Pros -Mario has almost all his special moves from Super Mario Sunshine/64, yet it's in 2D. -Runs so fast on a Centrino it's enough speed quality to be an official game. Runs pretty fast on other processors too. -Many unlockable secrets, when you win the game, you can play as Luigi on your second way through, and get a different ending for each character. -Lots of cool enemies, some from SML2, and even some decent powerups, it is the first time I've seen a fan game make use of the Bunny Rabbit carrot power-up ever!

Cons Not too many. But here they are. -Level 6 is almost impossible. -Sometimes when you do a super cool flip and then land on a Dry Bones, it takes a point off of Mario's health power meter. This is a flaw. You should be able to defeat any kind of enemy with any kind of cool move. -Both endings are kind of cliffhangers, and just don't work too well. One of them is supposed to be humorous, but just doesn't leave a really good impression.

Gameplay
10 / 10
The gameplay is smooth and very very fun. The best part of this game is the gameplay. It is holy gameplay. Almost everything mario games are made of can be found within this gameplay. Basically, Mario has all of his famous flips and super jumps, and can even wall kick in 2D. He also has those adorable bunny rabbit ears that make you fly!!!! About the fine art of wall kicking, other fan games like Super Mario Pandemonium had Mario jumping from one diagnal block to another, to reach the top of two walls. That didn't work. This has real wall kicks adequate of Mario Sunshine. All the gameplay is reminicent of 3D mario games, but don't expect Mario's karate kicks or punches. Think Mario Sunshine, minus FLUDD and the toboganning. And think SML2. By the way, when you squish baddies with your booties, you hear the original stomp goomba sound clip from SMB1. This sound effect makes stomping enemies more fun than ever!!!!! Luigi isn't quite as fun to control as Mario, but I'd still say 10/10. Period.

Graphics
8 / 10
Sorry, I can't get over how good these graphics are! From the pumpkin patch level, to the watch-tower level, everything is pretty well done. The opening scene is tremendous, and the rainy level looks like an authentic Nintendo work of art, but of course it really isn't! I would give these graphics an 8/10 though, partly because of the strange variety in sprites.

Sound
7 / 10
The sound has great quality, and has a song from Super Mario RPG, a song from Donkey Kong Country 3 and a lot more. At the end of every level it plays the victory music from SMW. But it doesn't quite cut the mustard, partly because it didn't have some of the more recognizeable mario pieces.

Replay
7 / 10
Apparently there are loads of secrets, including ones activated by the date of the year you play the game, and lots more. I've found a few! There are also supposedly four secret levels and two secret bosses! Also if you collect a Star Coin on every stage something is supposed to happen, I think. And there's even a section on the main menu for some of the unlockables. I'd say it has very good replay-value especially with all the fun gameplay, but if you have trouble discovering these "secrets" like I do, you could get bored.

Final Words
9 / 10
This game gets 9 Yoshies. Incredible gameplay taken right from the 3D mario games and implemented into a 2D world. Ingenious idea!
