General Commentary and Game Overview
Normal Super Mario Bros. 2 is a short, normal remake of the first level in the original Super Mario Bros. 2.

In this remake, you play as Toad because Toad was the most memorable character in SMB2.

Nothing out of the ordinary happens. Nope.

Pros Hilariously fitting music
Decent engine
Interesting twists

Cons Toad is a bit too floaty in his jumping
Much like Normal Super Mario Bros., too short

Impressions
Gameplay
8 / 10
The engine used is pretty good. Toad's super jump works pretty well, though you can't let go of down, stand still, and still be able to use it.

One part of the level has a Super Mario Galaxy-esque feel to it, with small "planets" with their own gravitational field. I felt this was nicely done, but a bit awkward.

The overall gameplay is damned fun.

Graphics
9 / 10
Perfect. Things clash, but they're meant to, so it really looks good. At least, in the way it was intended to look.

Sound
8 / 10
The music is all over the place, and oddly fitting for each segment.
One part that really got me was the doorway to the Mario Paint part where the platforms are instruments used in Mario Paint, all of which make the original sounds when stepped on. Clever. Of course, that's not all of the platforms there that make sound.

The sound effects fit nicely. That's pretty much it.

Replay
5 / 10
Unfortunately, there's not much to go back to. Once you've beaten it, that's kinda it. Unless you count the magic vial things if you didn't get those on your first playthrough.

Final Words
8 / 10
Normal Super Mario Bros. 2 is quite normal indeed.
