Charisma: Prog Rock Edition!
preview
By: Vitiman
This is a full fledged remake of the first Charisma game. It's not too big of a game, but neither was the original. I made this for myself out of curiosity, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to share with everyone else.

A tragically beautiful experience that brought a very wide, nostalgic smile to my face. Prog rock on.

Kind of looks like you took the Charisma 4 engine you made and slapped it into the game as a whole.

The in-game jokes aren't funny, the storyline makes no sense except to those associated with the story, and the gameplay is your typical platformer.

One thing i can give credit to is that the engine, as Charisma 4, is very solid. For a platformer that's using The Games Factory 2 as it's engine: It's really good.

However, it doesn't convince me to whether or not i want to rate this a really good game. The engine is solid but everything else feels like a blatant mess. Sorry if it's not your expectations to hear such from me but i hope you can be serious and work with this engine to make very good games with it.

One thing i don't recommend is letting it become open-source. People will use it as level editors and slap their own sprites on it.

This seems like a great platformer with a lot of funny elements.

Uhhh... What? The game is awesome! Especially, that this time you die if you're outside room!
And I do NOT recommend to release this engine as open-source! People shall make their engines on theirself!

This is Charisma 4's engine. Some of these are also Charisma 4's sprites. What's wrong with that? C4 was never really finished, so it felt wasteful to just have its assets lie around.

I'm sorry you feel that way about the in-jokes. The vast majority of them might make sense if you've played the original Charisma (which I assume you haven't) or any of the other games in that little series.

Why do people keep thinking that I use TGF2? sgfdsgdsd I use MMF2. Get your facts straight. That'd be like if I walked up to any random joe making a new game and assumed they used GM7 just because that's the only GM I knew about. Thank you for the engine comment, though. The Charisma engine took quite a while to perfect and I'm very proud of it.

Again, this game was a remake of a rather silly little joke game. Nothing made sense in the original game, and I had no plans to try and "adapt" that for people who can't appreciate something for what it is and jump the gun on everything. At the very least, you hesitated before making a final decision. All I ask is that you examine everything more than once or twice before coming to a conclusion.

If there's one thing I will absolutely not do, is release my own work as open source. I A.) am a horribly messy programmer, so it would benefit no one, and B.) feel that the engine for a nonsensical game where you play as the dolphin of all characters from SMW wouldn't really benefit anyone.

Sorry if I sound rude but why are these charisma games being accepted? They have nothing to do with Mario at all besides maybe the dolphin being a Mario character.

I actually cast a dissenting vote to decline the Charisma megapack, since most of the later games in the series had very little to do with Mario. However, Dudim is based on a Mario character, and there are enough Mario elements in Charisma 1 to justify accepting this. The engine is fairly polished, and the dialogue is amusing, and since I thought people would have fun with this game, I went ahead and accepted it.

It's my overbearing hatred of the main site that drove me to make them impossible to fullscreen. Sorry, sweetie </3

I don't know, why did you? You got anything to add that's worthwhile to this old game of mine there, sport? Something useful to say?

Oh well, it goes without saying that Charisma: Prog Rock Edition is a very old game of mine. It's a remake of the first Charisma game, so it's not terribly inspiring. Something something "play one of my better games"
