One Mario head sprite that was copied and recolored several times over seems a bit paltry for a sprite submission.

Oh, I'm sorry If did not see the description, No, it was to demonstrate the Mario styles for generations.

I did this minigame in about 3 hours to just see how fast I could make a game in GML.

Not bad so far; I assume this is just a test of the physical engine and a few features from your finished game, so... a few pointers

First of all, the hidden passages. Very nice touch. But can you maybe not freeze-frame the game while the passage is shown? Because I went into the secret passage near the start of the first level, got a running start to make the jump, and subsequently slipped into the pit because the freeze-frame thing happened to show Mario leaving the passage, and I couldn't jump. Nice.

Secondly, Tanooki Mario... yeesh. Flying upwards feels way too stiff; you mash the jump button and hardly get any lift at all.

Second level... platform behind a tree. I can jump on the platform and walk on it, and then... I fall when I walk in front of the tree? Because I somehow fall in front of the tree when the hill's behind the tree?? Logic???

I didn't play past Level 2, because my laptop lagged out. But, from what I can tell, there's a lot of polish to be added here, still.
I can't wait to see what you do with the finished project! Remember; you gotta do something different. This little Hello game is nice and all, but you need something to set it apart from other Mario fangames. Take a look at Toadette Strikes Back or Super Mario Bros. Dimensions; both games that took the classic Mario concept and did something new with it. It doesn't have to be huge. I suggest going the SMBD route, using a seemingly small and simple idea that ends up drastically changing how you play.

As it is, this game is good (-ish). It's up to you to make this great.

Thanks for the opinion, and yes, that's exactly my purpose here. I want to make a different and fun fangame. Even I do not have much experience with programming. But I know I'll get.

It's still downloading. I really like Mario's sprite. Do you know where you got them?

Most likely. I think he got inspiration from Shikaternia's tilesets.

In truth, I based myself in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, but with a visual SMB3.

Can you do more? :)

Maybe for Peach, Daisy, Yoshi?

I will do so!
