General Commentary and Game Overview
I'll be honest, when I first saw the screenshot for this game, I was not looking forward to playing it. However, once you get into it, you'll find that this game has a surprising amount of charm and clever humour. Thankfully, it also has a solid engine and a creative graphic style to back this up. I'm very glad that supertoad reemerged from the depths to present us with this game.

Gameplay
9 / 10
Don't come into this game expecting a professional and perfect masterpiece. If you do, you will leave being disappointed and somewhat confused.
The game has a lot of clever and very bizarre humour. There were a couple of moments when I found myself laughing due to the random elements in the game. That being said, the game somehow managed to hold together even with all of the oddities that really should have made the game too strange to play. In fact, I really enjoyed the zany humour that this game was packed with, even though I'm usually the type of person to dismiss such craziness and move onto other things.
I think that this was partially due to the fact that this game had an incredibly solid engine to back it up. It was smooth and, unlike many other joke games, it seemed like time was actually put in to make the engine work properly.

All in all, I found this game to be free of glitches, full of (slightly odd) humour, and generally a very enjoyable game to play. And somehow, even though the story was absolutely absurd, I felt like I owed it to Mario to complete the adventure and get the razors back.

Graphics
10 / 10
These are certainly the most clever graphics that I have ever seen. The 'word graphics' style is very simple, but I found it to be surprisingly effective and refreshing. It's a totally different experience to walk across a self proclaimed bridge or to squash the word goomba. While this gimmick won't work repeatedly in games, it's so different from the overused mario graphics that I think you'll find this style to a big improvement, even if it isn't what you're accustomed to seeing. Admittedly, the backgrounds are a bit lacklustre, but the creative art style made me hardly notice the faltering backgrounds.

Sound
8 / 10
I thought that since the music all game from different games, it gave the game a very unique feel. However, I'm not sure it always fit the style of the game, as much of the music was less inspired than the graphics and humour.
I do think that the sound effects were excellently and subtly executed though, which really helped boost the sound category.

Replay
9 / 10
This is one of those games where I finished having no idea what just happened, but I knew that I liked it and I wanted to play it again.
Thankfully, once I was done, I was given one more level and the ability to replay all of the levels again for the jokes. This was a very useful feature, since there were certain situations were my actions dictated the jokes that I received. The jokes that didn't repeat rarely got stale, so I was thankful for that as well.

Final Words
9 / 10
If you liked Yoshi vs. Windows, then you will certainly like this game. Even if you weren't a fan of Yoshi vs. Windows, download Mushroom Pancakes anyway. You will almost certainly still enjoy it.
