General Commentary and Game Overview

Aftermath is a platform/puzzle game made by Yrr. In it, you control Mario, who along with Toad, are the only survivors of an attack on the Mushroom Kingdom. You have to guide Mario in finding a way out of the resulting crater from the attack.

Pros	-Excellent sound -Graphics are fresh
Cons	-Short (although it IS a minigame) -Difficult gameplay at times

Impressions

Gameplay 7 / 10	The gameplay is the biggest problem with this game, although it is not bad at all. The game takes on a Metroid-like feel as you are traveling around an area, acquiring powerups, and opening new areas for exploration. The main hazards in this game (the only hazards actually) are fires and spikes. Touching one of these results in instant death. This is where there is a problem with gameplay, as manuvering around these hazards requires a trial-and-error approach. The game can be passed though, and since saves are frequent and lives are unlimited, the game isn't too harsh on you if you die.
Graphics 8 / 10	The game itself is very small, and playing in fullscreen mode is advised. the game takes on a dark, misty look, in conjunction with the "apocalypse" theme. Graphics are well done here.
Sound 9 / 10	The best part of the game. The light, eerie music, coupled with the quiet sound effects, do a great job of setting the mood of the game.
Replay 1 / 10	Minigames rarely have replay value, and this game is no exception. As with all my reviews, Replay doesn't count toward the final score.

Final Words

Aftermath is a nice addition to MFGG and deserves the First Place Minigame badge.
