Protip: If you're going to make the koopa's unstompable, at least make them LOOK unstompable. Give some kind of warning that you can't kill them without the raygun other than "They're green! Ooh!" Put spike on them, draw them on fire, give them radioactive glows, whatever! At least let people know that you die if you jump on them.

I'm changing the enemies to the aliens from Commander Keen. But I will throw some hints in there. But beside that, what's your opinion of the game so far?

The multiplayer is just Lakitu thrown in. There's no sense of accomplishment.
The concept of Mario vs Lakitu sucks since it's just Lakitu throwing stuff at Mario.
Chance of what?

This looks interesting, a try at a good game using the Hello engine? I doubt it. Downloading now, expect a review later today.

I want to see it, but it won't show up.

So I can't actually enter any of the levels...

You press Enter on the first one (It resembles a blue lobster-like thing) to....enter it.

Hello,

Version 0.7.0 was just now released. The game has come a long way since you reviewed version 0.3.0. :) Anyway, the final release is planned to be released in 2 weeks, on Friday December 2, 2011. Between now and then, I would very much like to hear any remaining faults you can find with the game. I want to make it as great as it can possibly be. :) So if you have any remaining complaints about version 0.7.0 of Bowser's Last Stand, do please let me know so I can address them!

Cool. :-)

Really, the only good thing is the music. (What's it from?)

Title - Not really from any game, I think
Levels 1 and 2 - TMNT Arcade Game
Level 3 - Another one I don't actually recall much, other than it being from a certain arcade game..
Level 4 - Batman: Return of the Joker
Level 5 - More TMNT music
Level 6 - Mario Kart 64's Rainbow Road - The only in-game MP3 in the list
Level 7 - TMNT again
Level 8 - Contra
Level 9 - Mortal Kombat 3 (Game Boy)
Level 10 - Sonic CD
Level 11 - Sonic 2 (Master System)
Ending (In video clip) - Mega Man

Definetly a concept with lots of potential, but could've been executed better.

No. A game with one player as Lakitu and the other Mario will never turn out to be a good minigame. It's just Lakitu throwing stuff at Mario. Not much fun there.

What does "If there's one thing I know about playing something like this, it's that the formula can only fit well if it's supposed to be an actual Mario adventure." mean? Also, I must ask if you were trying to find a game that you could criticize, because you say that you had low expectations for the game before you even played it. And "The concept of one player playing as Lakitu and the other as Mario would never turn out to be a great game." Why not? "no other game modes" Are you saying a game must have different game modes to be good?

Okay...This is something I never thought I'd get as feedback. You see, the answers to your questions are very easy to answer, because of how obvious the answers are.
1. It's a platformer. How does that result in a Mario Vs Lakitu game?
2. It would never turn out great since it's all about Lakitu dropping stuff onto Mario. Prove me wrong if you want, but still.
3. This is the most obvious answer of all: This NEEDS more game modes. Do you expect a SMB World 1-1 clone with 2P Lakitu thrown in to be good? And with that being the only level? I'm not saying games in general need game modes. I'm talking about THIS specifically.

I'm pretty sure most vehicles have better acceleration/deceleration than lateral movement.

I don't feel as if I overlooked too much. I felt that my review was filled with some very valid points.

Valid, yes, but it may be the low scores talking, but I think certain points shouldn't be so low for- Never mind. And are you actually able to play Game Maker games like this on Mac?

This review seems half-baked. For one thing...NO MUSIC? Are you kidding me? Was something wrong with your speakers or something? There's music for each level, and they aren't even your average Mario tunes, either.

And the backgrounds, maybe that's just you. Anyone else I know that plays this game and/or its non-Mario version was just fine.

The difficulty... Well, I can say that is IS sorta hard, but as a challenge. Not extremely hard, though! How is it so difficult for you to be able to make it through a few levels? Must be the fact that this is a shooter, and there aren't a wide load of those on the site.

You complain about defaults? Really? Ooh, look! A health bar, high score table, explosions, etc, all set up there? Looks totally unfinished, all right. T_T

Ever wonder why you don't back up as fast as moving forward? Because Mario's in a freaking go-kart. That I didn't even have to point out, but did anyway.

For an admittedly meaty review, you sure overlooked lots of stuff about the game.

I feel that the gameplay is rather bland...even with the admittedly cool powerups and enemies at different speeds...

Some of the games don't use MIDIs.

Also, Games Factory 2 came out recently. These were all made with either The Games Factory, or Click & Create (one might be Multimedia Fusion).

Whoops. My bad. I guess it just seemed like it as I played them...

Plus I was up late when I typed this up.

You've already made a demo for that?
Didn't you just start that?

It's a one-level demo. And I guess I'll put it on the forums since the normal uploading had a glitch in which it prevents me from uploading it due to going past the "Maximum size (50 MB)", despite it being 17.2 MB (I put big MP3s in it)

EDIT: It's now in the forums under Developer Showcase

For replay, you can't see something as obvious as the sign that says to press the UP arrow when you reach it at the "dead end" and from my point of view the sprites aren't "poorly hand drawn" because they were made with paint and the drawings are based off of "Wario Land Shake It!" (if you even know what that game is). I understand this guy's spelling is pretty awful because he can't even spell "maybe" correctly or mix up word coins with scores but the cut scenes are vital to the games storyline. It IS a little frustrating having to go back and collect 2000 coins and I think he should make it so that you need 500 coins instead. So honestly, I think this game deserves at least a 4 or 5 and not a 1 and sorry if I sound rude but I just wanted to point that out.

Who said I pointed out that the graphics were terrible?
4 or 5 my butt. It's alll 1/10 for me. Coins aren't what the game keeps track of.

A decent way to spend time if you're bored. The only problem I've got with it is that two questions are of questionable accuracy.
1. Mario's last name isn't really Mario anymore. That was only in the movie, it's never been mentioned since (aside from fans) and if I'm not mistaking, Nintendo doesn't recognize it as such.
2. Technically speaking there are 121 stars in Super Mario 64. There are the 120 everyone knows about, and there's also the one Bowser gives you at the end. 120 + 1 = 121.

Yeeeeaaaaa-No. There's no 121st star.
