General Commentary and Game Overview

Wario Land. Debuting on the Game Boy disguised as a sequel to Super Mario Land 2, it paved the way for more adventures starring the greedy farting guy with a motorcycle that used to be Mario's villain. Boy, were these adventures a total blast! I had nothing but fun (and a bit of confusion) from the Wario Land series. In fact, just talking about it just makes me want to play it right now!

However, I can't say I expected something great out of Mario350's attempt to make a sequel to the GBA's Wario Land 4, but hey. He used an engine this time. So it's gotta have a bit of decency, right?...........Right?

Pros	-Used an engine, so the gameplay is solid
Cons	-Jumping sound effect couldn't have been any more delayed -Levels are pretty poorly designed -One song -The Captain Syrup boss fight

Impressions

Gameplay 3 / 10	I'll give you an extra 2 points for using the Wario Land engine. After all, the engine definitely had some pretty solid gameplay mechanics. It's just a shame that the level designs and boss do not live up to them at all. Why do I have to collect a genie lamp and bring it to Captain Syrup anyway? Isn't she the villain? Well, you do fight her.....as she walks back and forth as Bowser does in Mario's Time Machine. UGH....
Graphics 1 / 10	The levels are definitely not pretty to look at. You'll always see way too many of these small blocks that make up a huge percentage of the game's floors.
Sound 2 / 10	Just one Wario Land song, and delayed sound effects. Moving on.
Replay 1 / 10	I'm not sure if I want to even wait for the full version, if it ever comes out.

Final Words

The biggest problem with this game is that Mario350 had the gall to label this "Wario Land 5". You can't make a sequel and expect not to have to fill up a massive gap. Unfortunately, Wario Land 5 took the shovel, but didn't even bother picking up the dirt. It just left with the shovel in hand.

Ha, the score has a Wario picture on it, and the game is about Wario.
