General Commentary and Game Overview
Once you start the actual game you will notice that you are using numbad to control you character, while you could use arrow keys in the menu. Honestly why must the actual game have different controls from the menu? There’s just no reason to it and player will often forget that.

Pros - More original than most games on this site
- Many different game modes and characters to choose from
- Looks Nice

Cons - Tedious to play
- Bad design choices

Gameplay
6 / 10
Object of the game is to collect golden mushroom called Wondershrooms. In Classic mode you have to collect five of them scattered throughout the level, but only one appears at a time. Once you collect it, another one will appear somewhere in the level. Placement is always random and thus you will never know where the next Wondershroom will appear (one got stuck in the ground once and was totally unobtainable). There is also a very strict time limit making the game luck based and frustrating. You can collect some hollow honeycombs to add time to the timer (how is that supposed to make sense?). Honeycombs only add 5 seconds to the timer, so they are only worth collecting if they are practically on your way. For some reason, you can gain lives in Classic mode even though you’re (apparently) not supposed to. Once I die from time expiration after collecting a life/lives, the level doesn’t restart neither does the timer and I can take my time to collect the remaining Wondershrooms. You can even continuously shoot a 1up mushroom with fireballs to gain infinite lives. You get way too much health in this game but I guess it’s alright, because most hits you take are cheap hits from endless flow of enemies suddenly appearing from pipes and the time limit won’t allow you to take it slow and steady (to avoid unnecessary hits). Adventure mode in other hand has linear platforming levels with enemies suddenly appearing from pipes and jumping occasionally. Collecting a Wondershroom in this mode completes a level and you'll move on to the next. Levels are short, but are kept interesting with pretty good level design. One thing that struck to me as odd was a Koopa soldier saying "Press 1". Why would I want to press it at that point, why don't you appear later on in the game and why would I have not figured out what button 1 does? You can press down to charge up for a super jump. You can do this in mid-air too allowing you to reach great heights after bouncing from a spring. You might even climb infinite heights, if the time limit wasn't so strict. ?-blocks have a random item inside, meaning that it may be totally useless or level breaking. All enemies are the same except for Bob-omb which explodes and damages you, if you touch it (even when you are invincible). Game also tends lag quite a bit on my computer despite having such a simple engine.

Graphics
8 / 10
Graphics are from Mario & Luigi games and are fairly good. The menu is well organized and fits with everything else. Characters are well animated, but tend to have absurd size differences. Levels have no decorations and tend to look bland, especially in Adventure mode. It doesn't help that enemies simply disappear after you stomp them. Screensize tends to change unnecessarily and default Game Maker effects don’t quite fit in.

Sound
6 / 10
Nothing much to say here. Some pretty good midis and some not so good one. Not many sound effects and some of them sound out of place, especially explosion. Character voices might get annoying.

Replay
6 / 10
There are many different game modes to choose from and you may try them all out at least once. There’s also a two player mode, which I didn’t get to play and unlockable characters, but I don't think they'll be worth unlocking

Final Words
6 / 10
Game that’s Worth a while, if you can put up with its design choices and tedious gameplay.

Thanks for the review, it really helps a lot. By the way, when the koopa says "press 1", it means the literal 1 key on the keyboard, not button #1. It toggles the HUD on and off (which is really useful later so you can see where you're going). It's the 1 button because I couldn't think of a logical place for it.

Why make random character say that in middle of a stage? Unless it's relevant with the levels design, it feels totally pointless and out of place.

Agreed. I rushed the game a little at the end. Got a new version almost ready to go.
