General Commentary and Game Overview
When I first downloaded this game, I wasn't expecting much, as all of the racers were just using sprites and not 3-D models. I thought "might as well play it to kill time..." and lord was I mistaken in my prejudice of this game...

Pros A wide selection of characters are available from the start and to unlock.

Custom sprites in the style of the original game

Accurate gameplay

Cons Sound effects are lacking

Replay value can be over quickly if you get good at the game before reaching the point of replay

Impressions
Gameplay
10 / 10
This game plays exactly how I believe a modern interpretation of the original Super Mario Kart (SNES) would look, it's kind of amazing actually. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience playing this game and everything controlled how I expected. No complaints!

Graphics
10 / 10
The graphics can't really be complained about here; Its the original sprites and more of them in its style! The more the merrier.

Sound
7 / 10
The MIDI recreations of the songs are very accurate and faithful to their originals. My only gripe in the sound department is that it seems to me that not many sound effects are present. For example, when you use a mushroom, I expect some kind of happy chant from the driver I selected, but in this game, you get nothing. Whilst not off-putting, it is noticeable. Overall, a pretty good job brought down by a lack of important sound effects.

Replay
8 / 10
The replay value in this game is pretty good, I'd say in equality to Double-Dash. Every time you complete a new cup on a new cc, you unlock something. It's easy to realize how to get new things, yet challenging to go about it every time! Whilst this system is conveys a clear pattern of challenge to the player, I can't help but feel a more cryptic method to unlock things would feel more rewarding to me. So in summary, a satisfying amount of replay, which would be even more satisfying with an added sense of mystery.

Final Words
8 / 10
This game is a true-to-series fan creation which deserves all the praise it receives. Despite being short on the audio side of things, you should give this game a try.
