General Commentary and Game Overview
Finally, after months of waiting, signs of a sequel to the great Super Mario Epic 2 are emerging. Sure this demo of SME3 is a one level demo, but think of what it could achieve if it were finished.

Pros Fantastic engine and gameplay, great use of sprites, incredibly promising.

Cons Small (Although that's expected from a demo), some features take a while to get used to.

Gameplay
9 / 10
Logically Jeff Silvers is likely to improve in his game making skills since 2004, and it really shows here. The engine is literally bug free, and feels like a Mario game. It's a perfect blend between SME2's level designs, and a great engine, something that was said to be missing in the two prequels this game has. Epic 3 tries to blend SMB2 and SMB3/SMW style gameplay into one game, which seems to be popular with fangames nowadays (See Super Mario Stardust), and it works pretty much perfectly. It isn't exactly the same as the NES/SNES classics, but once you get used to it, your realise you're playing a brilliant game.

Graphics
8 / 10
The graphics seem to be blended from many Mario games, which is always a danger as they don't tend to match well. However, SME3 has managed to do a great job with the graphics, aside from the odd out-of-place sprite or two. Some parts of the HUD look a little ugly, but it's nothing that can't be fixed for the final version.

Sound
7 / 10
Pleasant MIDIs that haven't been overused, which is a nice touch. Sound effects aren't special, but they fit perfectly and sound great in game. Since there's not much, music wise, that this demo has to offer, it's hard to go into detail.

Replay
5 / 10
You can play as Mario, or Luigi, so you're probably likely to play this game at least twice to see what each character does, but being a demo, there's not much else you can do.

Final Words
8 / 10
Amazing stuff once again. I can only hope the final game is as good as this demo, if not better.
