Princess Peach Coin Chase
preview
By: Merit Celaire
My first fangame submission to the MFGG site, but it's definitely not my last!

This fangame is for all of us Princess Peach fans, it's a platformer/party game starring the Mushroom Kingdom's favorite princess -- only that we are the ones playing as her! In short - it's coin collecting party time with our "lead gal"!

The procedure/mission is simple: help Peach collect the coins on each stage while avoiding enemies, traps, and hazards that block our way to success (not to mention that you're racing against the clock in the process!)

This game is for 1 to 2 players, and features include a password system (1 player game, mainly to unlock stage sets you've completed), options (to customize settings in both 1 and 2 player games), and course selection (both modes).

Gameplay instructions (also "hosted" by Peach herself) and credits are in-game.
Completion: Full Game Genre: Platform
Franchise: Mario

Just like everyone else, I too am very glad this is finally released!

Downloading now. xD

Edit: Dang, level 1-3 is tough for me. Especially when the game glitches up and doesn't let me move while falling. It's also a bit too tough to land right on enemies.

I don't know if I've ever seen a game where TGF default platform movement ticked me off so much.

The level design makes it incredibly easy for the "I can't move horizontally because I touched a wall!" glitch to cause instant death.

Yeah, that was the thing that annoyed me during the numerous testing procedures. Just keep practicing and get the timing right. It's one of those "watch your footing" moments.

Thanks for the support still, Sin Flametale. However, I'm still aggravated in terms of the TGF's platform engine in terms of how some stuff can't be helped.

For those who have played it, let me know via PM how far you've gotten in the game's 1-Player Mode; I'm curious to know.

Glitches should be fixed, not worked around in-game.

What's up with the link's awakening hearts? I thought this was Peach, not Zelda.

I can answer that one -- it makes more sense for Peach's health meter because if I used the small heart as seen in Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, it wouldn't make any sense (and they're too SMALL to begin with anyway! I only used it for Peach's goal flag)

I also thought about using the hearts seen in the Super Princess Peach game, but then I would be commiting a sprite clash, which no one wants.

It's quite fun, but the boss needs to be toned down....like....A LOT! I reviewed, and it should be on in a few days.

HEADS-UP to those who've downloaded the game so far:

Upon playing the game on my end, I've noticed that I overlooked something in the TGF events list when you're starting a new game (in the 1-Player Mode). I'm currently submitting an updated version of it right now; when it's up, make sure to delete the old version. Thanks!

Sadly, yeah; because they claim that the TGF default platform movement is a HUGE turn-off.

If I'm not mistaken, they're hoping that in future fangame projects that I do -- if they're platform based, create an engine from scratch.

A scratch engine is not only good programming experience, but it's also much easier to work with than a packaged or pre-made engine, especially if you add lots of comments to make sure you understand everything.

Please do that.

I can't see why someone would even be content to put the monstrosity that is TGF default platform movement in their games, to be honest. It seems to me like essentially saying, "Oh well, I'll just settle with letting this major project of mine be very far from perfect."

IMO a game has to be really darn good in other departments (such as level design) to be anywhere beyond mediocre, if it uses the TGF default platform movement.

Too bad. The hearts from SMBD would make sense!
Also, SMBD stands for Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. [kicks the creator into the pit but in a spefifc way]

3 Problems with the jumping in this game:
1:Every time you press z you here the boing sound even when your falling
2:If you hold z and hit the ceiling you get stuck to the ceiling and sometimes you can't move and it gets stuck and you have to close it
3:Sometimes when you jump you face left even if you didn't press left
I agree with The Real Wart that it does get boring fast

2 player mode should've been split screen. It's annoying because I played 2 player with my cousins and they just get every coin and they take thier sweet time and I'm waiting for such a long time.
