Too bad VLC can't run MIDI anymore. Anyway, this is very useful to me. If I just could convert MIDIs to SF2s...

Thank you SO much for this! I downloaded a game with a bunch of SPCs for audio files, so now I will covert those into MIDIs using this, and those into OGGs using Audacity! ...not that anyone cares, of course. XD |

Eh, the quality is all over the place with this tool. I tested on a bunch of SPC of SMW music ports from my ROM hack, and the results were: Tehee Valley: Sounded identical to the port SMW Castle Remix (vanilla level design contest): sounded like a piano malfunctioning. Actraiser Maranha: A very high pitched version of the original. Legend of Mana Hometown Domina: Pretty darn good actually, sounded very much like the original port. Sampled songs just converted horribly. Krook's March from DKC 2 sounded completely off, Skull Dungeon from the Oracle games sounded like a glitchy mess and most others converted quite poorly in general. It's a useful tool, but it seems to only work well on about 10-20% of SPCs... |

Quote (CM30 on Aug 4 2014, 7:32 PM) "snip" Well there are some options to use different pianos and such, you need to play around with it , but overall you are right. |

What was I thinking back then? MIDIs are sequences, SF2s are a bunch of instruments. But yeah, this is pretty neat. Not really seeing why the guys who made the SPC format couldn't just straight out put it into a MIDI, as that'd've been more useful, but whatever... |

I Guess the Consoles that uses SPC Files arent able to use/read MIDI? ^^ |

When I booted up the program, it created a blank text file called "trace_gspc". I don't know the purpose of that file, but the word "trace" scares me. What if this program actually has a DRM, like a certain Sonic fangame had?! EDIT: I asked someone with more computer knowledge than me to look into this program, and he said the "trace_gspc" file is for debugging the SPC conversion. I would've deleted this comment, but you can't do so on MFGG, so I posted this update. |
