Good to know Gigaleak submissions are allowed again!

By the way, does that also mean custom / edited submissions based off of sprites from said leak are also allowed now?

Late response but yeah!

I mean, it's like, the end of june so I think it already came a while ago

It just really doesn't seem that way for some reason, at least to me.

It doesn't seem to load. I waited for several minutes, but the loading bar just stayed at "0/0".

It loaded for me after a minute, the loading bar stays at 0 but I guess it's still loading the game in the background.

EDIT: It loaded with Chrome but not Firefox so that might be it?

Hello, thank you for creating this excellent hack. I made this account specifically to ask you about a problem I'm facing that is preventing me from achieving 100% completion. When I do the red coin mission in Dire Dire Docks, the moving poles do not appear. I am playing on Hard mode. This seems to make it impossible to collect two remaining red coins. I am playing this hack on a real NTSC N64. Therefore, the related hack, Super Mario 64 Plus, is not useful to me. I wonder if you could fix this problem? I have thoroughly enjoyed your hack so far.

In addition, I have a widescreen CRT. I have been playing the hack in 4:3, because the widescreen version produces video garbage, regardless of which display I use. For example, when I test the widescreen version on my 4:3 CRT, it has the same result. Solving this problem is not a priority for me, but it would be really appreciated if you could fix it.

Thank you again for your hard work on this hack.

You gotta beat the fire sea for the poles to appear. That's how it is in the original game as well.

As for the widescreen issue, I never tested it on the real hardware and I guess it's a resolution the N64 hardware doesn't like. So I guess your only solution is to use an emulator there, sorry.

Hey Mors, I was super curious after playing this game for a couple hours about its potential going forward in like, the SM64 modding scene? I'm definitely a super amateur when it comes to modding, but just seeing how fluid everything is here, I cant help but to think to myself, "what if romhacks like Star Road or Last Impact were implemented into this new game? HOW would they even be implemented? Could a PC port of other n64 games be a real potential now?"

Sorry if this is vague as all hell, but i wanted to pick your brain, especially as someone who added stuff within the pc port itself, on the potential of that type of stuff with this pc port. Is it possible at all? Is it just grueling and not really worth it? Is there a possibility of these kinds of ports becoming easier to create going forward?
Again, sorry if this is alot, i kinda stumbled on this port last night and im absolutely floored at how perfect it's running, it's just opened the floodgates in my head for the future of n64 game development now, let alone emulation.
Thanks for everything, I appreciate your time and efforts on this game!

It's not really possible to do this with ROM Hacks, or at least older ones that weren't made with the decomp. I know that there's a project trying to port Star Road to PC, but it's technically not a port of that mod but rather a recreation of it inside one of the forks of the PC port.

In any case, it's not something I'm interested in personally, and whether if it would be worth it or not depends on the person.

As for PC ports of other N64 games, it's... possible I suppose? It's possible for most video games out there on a technical level, it's just that it's an insane amount of work decompiling an entire game, and that amount of work increases as the game gets more complex.

I'm having a problem with Dire Dire Docks. After beating the first star usually the sub goes away and the poles appear, but for some reason the level state never changes. I also tried switching to the vanilla preset and it still didn't work. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug.

You're supposed to play the fire sea, that's how it is in the original game as well.

I meant, what do you do after you install MSYS2? I am sort of an idiot, so I don't know what to do.

Just follow the instructions the launcher gives you.

I wish I was able to get this to work, but the instructions are vague and the page to get the original game doesn't get SM64, just some weird text box. Also, what folder is the z64 file in?

I don't know what you're talking about, there's no page to get the original game, and you don't have to put the z64 file anywhere yourself.

Why didn't you include better graphics like render96? Who wants to play this game with the old graphics and blurry textures? Common sense.

Because that's not the point of this fork. If you want to get better graphics go play Render96 instead.

Is there a reason why this is in the games section instead of the mods (AKA hacks) sections? I haven't downloaded it yet, but from the looks of it, it seems to be a patch for a game (in this case a PC port of SM64), just like everything in the mods section. Is there a difference here?

Because it's not a patch, it's a standalone game essentially.

Hey, I saw the trailer and made an account only to ask if there's a mode or set of settings that I can use to experience Vanilla SM64.

Ideally that would mean keeping all the original mechanics (and glitches), even though I would experience SM64 for the first time, so you can tell me anything and I would believe you.

Also I don't have original SM64, and I don't actually plan to play it (too little free time *sob*), so this very act of writing all of this makes me question my priorities.

Anyway I find beauty in the project, I appreciate it, so thanks for making it. -★

You can choose the vanilla preset from the presets page, just press left when you open the settings menu

I remember playing it at Yoyo Games Sandbox way back in the day, good times.

since the DB of the main site and the forum are different, so one does not impact the other

Yup, both the forums and the main site don't share databases, nor code. They are completely separate from each other.

We plan to integrate both in the future, but for now they will stay separate.
