The text that floats away says "Collect 8 stars". You're normally supposed to get one of them after defeating the Waluigi boss.
You need to collect 8 red coins to get another star, like in Super Mario 64. You can get another star by defeating the 3 spinning enemies.

Oh! It was not obvious, so I'll have to get back to it. Thanks!

How many Red Coins and Stars am I suppose to find in the room with the rotating circle of light? I found 7 red coins and 6 stars but I don't know where to go...

I wasn't able to read the message that floated away when I entered that room. I think it said "Collect 6 stars"?

I beat the weird Waluigi enemy that threw red sickles, and I think I didn't get anything after the jingle.

Just played this. While very short, I had fun with it. One bug I found is that the water drops (2nd level) may eventually stop appearing until you switch rooms. Happened to me twice.

I like that you're using an old tool to make your games! Compared to what we have now, TGF1 is kinda limited, so it's cool to see how someone gets around those limits! :) It's also very nostalgic!

I'm pretty impressed by what I saw in your Tetris Attack RPG project! :) I do hope that you'll find a good direction for that game. :)

Hey! Thanks Q-Nova for playing, and I'm glad you have some fun.

I appreciate the mention of my TA:RPG project! That makes me happy. :)

Oh! I just found out about your review. Here are my thoughts.

TGF still holds a lot of charm for me, and it's unexplainable, like a kind of magic. Glad to know someone else can appreciate it!

Due to being the author, I thought the game was pretty easy. I suppose the time it took to charge the dash was my time thinking how this game is awesome. It's not.

Glitches aside, I've heard many times the charge mechanic and slow pace were definite buzzkills.

To be honest, the plan was to make Castlevania-style game. That is why it was intentionally slow, but as development continued and the heat of the deadline began to burn my eyes (due to lack of sleep), it just sort of boiled down to whatever I could muster for a 8-day Game Jam!

Among the many people that played my game and shared their criticisms, I'm grateful to hear your side because you can appreciate The Ye Olde Games Factory and what charm it holds.

Yes, it is easy to say this game sucks but you took the extra mile to tell me what went wrong, with criticism to boot!

Thanks for the review, Vitiman.

Hey everybody,

The .gam should be unlocked if anyone who wants to explore the game's logic. You're free to learn from it, but don't steal it.

Thanks.

I want to play it, but TGF is so bugged that the sound loops and the game freezes. :( Disappointing because it looks great!

It looks very nice! It seems a bit big, but other than that, great job!

You're the second person to say that! Darkkefka (the guy who created Super Mario RPG:Armageddon) said the same thing. Haha. I guess I could try to make it smaller... But thank you!

I totally agree with your point, Vitimin.

For me at least, why I hesitate to even release my games or let alone work on them, I find they are a little too... weird or out-of-the-norm. But hearing your viewpoint on things, makes me more inspired for my creative processes. I wonder where your post will lead to.

Wow, very nice! It looks like it came straight out of Super Mario RPG!

Thank you!

I think the contrast would help with that. It would make it more dimensional, which would help it look more like SMRPG.

I agree, contrast would help a lot, because you're right it does look flat. Thank you for the criticism!

And upon that criticism, I decided to give it another shot. I sent in the updated version with brighter colors, among other small changes to his colors (4 colors on feet instead of 5, and added a tint of pink to the eyes).

Hope that works! haha. Thanks for the crits everyone!

EDIT: Alrighty, now I see the problem. Going to send in another version eventually.

I've admittedly never tried before, but I imagine replicating SMRPG's style would be fairly manageable considering the color limitations on 16-bit sprites. They're also not quite as detailed as the sprites from, say, the original DKC trilogy.

Yes, you are completely right. Like any style I'd say it takes a little bit of time to get used to, with all the different artistic attributes tied to it. With the color limitation it's actually very manageable. There are a fair amount of details on the official sprites even with the color limit. However, some things to note, some of the sprites don't have the same level of detail as other sprites in the game. If you take a look the Heavy Troopa, and compare it to say, the Sky Troopa (Paratroopa in this game), you'll notice the shading is actually handled differently. To me, custom SMRPG sprites are actually much easier to replicate with this knowledge, because of the inconsistencies in the game already.

The thing I always have to keep in mind is my sprites will never be "perfect", it'll always have to land at "good enough."

Thanks, I'm glad you all like it! If you have any requests for things in SMRPG style, don't be afraid to ask.

Also, I forgot the battle portrait. Whoops!

This looks legit! The shading looks fitting as if it was in SMRPG already!

Thanks! I'm happy with it too, but I wonder if it would look better if the shading is darker.

I love it! But later can you add the walking back overworld sprites? That would be nice. :)

I've added the back walking animations! Sorry it took so long.

This game took me by surprise. It actually has a lot more to it than I expected it to, and it turned out to be a real treat to play. The whole thing is definitely on the weird side, but all those quirks really made it for me. Really, thanks for sharing this! I do have to mention the voice acted scenes are especially hilarious! It makes this really special.

I hope you don't mind I ask, but is there really a lost world or was that meant to pull our leg?
