Ooh! I wonder what Cruise Elroy would say if he saw this...

The sprites look good! I just think they shouldn't be on a light green background -- they're kind of hard to make out.

I always liked these icons! They are such a cool way to give the player an idea of what to expect and add a little extra personality! Gosh, Yoshi's Island had so much love and care put into it!

Super Mario Epic 2 has icons like these, all original too I believe, which is neat. I also remember watching videos of Yoshi's Island ROM hacks years ago and seeing how some of them would make their own level icons.

It's so weird that this was called "SMW Vegetables" until now. I guess people just either didn't notice it or didn't find it too bothersome. The rip's nice, by the way. Very simple, but good for what it is, and it probably got a lot of use back then.

I like this! There aren't many block sprites to use in Superstar Saga, so it's nice to have more options! I especially like the SM64 blocks! If I have any criticisms, it's that the whites don't stand out too much in the yellow blocks, but it's not really much of an issue and probably the best you can do with the palette available. The big Mario sprite is quite a nice bonus, even if his legs look a bit skinny.

Ooh, this is super cool! It looks and feels very much like the original! I always love seeing stuff from the old Mario games get represented, it feels like the N64 era in particular doesn't get much custom sprites.

I don't like to leave these kind of comments but like.. the controls suck, if you're supposed to play this on a keyboard why are the arrow keys to move and not WASD?? jump is not the space bar it's z for some reason and sprint is x not shift and the.. uhh spin jump?? idk you leave it like that and otherwise this game looks good and if you mastered the controls it would play good in my opinion, all I'm saying to fix the controls and such but yeah this game is really good besides that, keep up the good work.

Arrow keys to move plus Z and X to jump and run respectively is a standard control configuration in fangames. In fact, I've never heard of a fangame that uses the control scheme you'd like to have. What kind of layout does your keyboard have?

-----

I think times like this show that allowing players to customize the controls in games is a very good idea. Though, this game appears to be a demo, so customizable controls could possibly be a planned feature. If not, then to any of the developers reading this, I think you should consider implementing that. :)

There's a cool secret I found in the game that has been hidden for about 20 years (it got added in a demo). If you're curious about it, I made a post on the forums explaining it in detail, including how to get to it: https://forums.mfgg.net/showth...=32817#pid32817

can i use a joypad instead of the keyboard?

When you have the game on, hit Ctrl+Y. It will bring up a menu, where you can choose to use a joystick/gamepad rather than a keyboard.

It's been over a month since the last update. I think a new update would be much appreciated.

Yeah, your skewers look so much better! They look more dangerous, especially that SMW one which looks like it could actually skewer you (just like the skewer graphic from the original SMW)! I also really like the mini underwater mines (spike balls in SMW style)! Good sprite sheet!

Looks like more like a tropical theme than a beach one to me (mainly because of the grass), but it looks pretty decent overall! It kind of gives me a bit of a Sonic vibe, with the geometrical pattern-based terrain. I remember seeing the tileset you took inspiration from; I bet Qwerty Triple6 would've liked to see this!

I've always really liked the atmosphere and vibe of this race track! Just a nice drive along the cliffside with a great view! There's some really useful-looking textures here! I like the trucks with the SNES sprites!

Hm, I think it's the Mario Kart banner and finish line! I'll download to see if I'm correct!

EDIT: Oh, looks like neither of them are included. There appears to be several textures that aren't prefixed with "pin_"; I assume you renamed some of the textures? Good rip, by the way! The icons in "ob_dram1" look very useful for a game's HUD/UI! I could also see a few of the other textures being used in a 2D platformer.

Wow, 23 candles! That's incredible! Only problem is that 23 has one too many syllables compared to 16... :)

I not sure why my new submission isn't on the recent additions list unless it some sort of limitation.

The submission that I'm talking about is this below:

Yeah, I noticed that this update is missing quite a few games too. If you look at the games section, you'll find four games at the top that aren't listed over here.

omg is that dorkly mario

That's actually a custom Mario sprite Xander made way back in 2005: https://mfgg.net/index.php?ses...c=1&id=1102

Nowadays, however, I think the sprite is mostly associated with Dorkly.

Yo Nintendo, you owe this guy royalties.

Don't forget about the old SMW hack that shares the exact same name with Super Mario Odyssey! https://www.smwcentral.net/?p=...ils&id=4987

I remember playing this a long time ago, and I kind of enjoyed it, although part of it comes from nostalgia for the old Game Maker stuff like the stock sound effects and music. I kind of like the red clouds, they give a slight otherworldly feeling (and it looks like a stuffed toy rabbit). I like it when the levels are based on Mario stuff, although it's pretty painful when the ball needs to go through a tight one-brick-tall shaft since it take forever for that to happen.

Nothing really remarkable, but a decent way to pass time, especially if you have nostalgia for the early Game Maker days. I've made a Mario-themed Breakout game over a decade ago, and while that one has issues, it has Mario powerups, enemies, and even bosses, all of which would've been very welcome in this game. Also, despite being tagged in the puzzle genre, there's not much thinking nor problem-solving to do. Breakout has always been more of an action game in my eyes.

I wonder if anyone else has gotten all of the coins. I remember doing that years ago, and I wasn't expecting to unlock Luigi! It may be just a cosmetic difference, but it's still a neat touch! Completing it 100% was pretty tough from what I remember!

Also, I like how there are a couple pre-made levels that can only be played via the level editor! I like it when people put secrets into their games, it's really awesome to find them, especially one that's been undiscovered for years!

Having played Missile Command for the Atari 2600 a few years ago, seeing this really reminds me of that game. The brown abstract and chunky ground, the black background, the falling meteors/missiles, the way the explosions look. I've got a feeling that this is supposed to be a homage to that game, correct?

I feel like these sprites could be used in some SMB3 creepypasta game.

I've always thought these sprites would be perfect for a joke game, though a creepypasta could work too. :)

The ENTER key and mouse clicks sometimes fail to register. There are times where I had to click on a button two or three times before it finally decides to get itself together. I ran the game in browser, Brave to be specific. I've played a few other games in browser and they didn't have that issue, so I don't know what's going on here.
