Super Mario Fused (Complete)
preview
By: Shikaternia
This was an old game I started around 2010 and decided to finish it since it was close to being done.

As a result, it doesn't really have a plot and has some bugs I didn't bother to fix (numbers near the left of the screen, sledge bros get stuck in the blocks, but no major issues), since I plan on making a far better and more creative game than this one.

It does use the.. hello engine WAIT DON'T GO!!

I added several enemies. (each level has at least 2 new enemies. Each world introduces 2 power-ups (except world 9, which has 8; one in each level), and each level has it's own music, background, and tileset.

New power-ups have been added

-Boomerang
-Another Bomb Power-up
-Cape
-Squirrel
-Zues (kind of like cloud, but stronger)
-Stronger fire power-up
-pwing
-Propeller
-Ranger
-Peach, Toad, and Luigi
-Gold (NSMB2)

Hopefully you find some enjoyment in this game, I created this game to test gamemaker and what I could do with it, which involved adding a lot of new stuff to the hello engine.

I'll be using a much better engine in the future. ^_^

Could you specify the issue?

I tested it and it loaded just fine for me. o_o

Forgot to mention this in the description...

-72 Levels; 9 Worlds each with 8 levels

-World 9 is extra, and each level is unlocked by collecting the special coin in each stage of a world (unlock 9-1 by collecting the coin in levels 1-1 to 1-8).

-There was going to be a world 10, but I was tired of working on the game using an old engine, so I scrapped it.

Another time I'm asking me: What the hell is wrong with this guy. No, not Shikaternia :D ;
I meant this liangliyuan-guy who writes things like:

DELETE THIS!!!
. Don't shout and put over 9000 !!!!!!! behind your post. Anway, to the game:
It's a Hello Clone, but surprising new add-ons added, that proves: Hello engine games can possibly be good if you put a lot of effort into them. And this guy did it. <hands clapping>

That lingulayalan (I will never learn how to spell that name) is actually a girl afaik. Also this game is pretty sweet, even if it uses an engine. Great job on this actually.

I would play this a lot more but it lags terribly for me. (Probably my Laptop) But yeah, the music is just chopping through whilst the play is slow... :/ Guess it's the file size.

But first three levels were fun!

When I tested the exe. I noticed some slight lag, but when I played it from the gmk. file there was any. Not really sure why though, or how I could fix that.

This is a good example of what you can do with an open-source engine.

You should give this a go guys ;)

For a Hello-engine game, it's actually quite decent. Sure a few things from Hello's engine like the physics and the (ANNOYING) voices are pretty much unaltered, but the level design is good and there is a noticeable bit of effort put into it. THIS is how beginners should use Hello's engine. Not slap a bunch of levels on it and call it a game. I think this should be an example of how to make a game for anyone who uses HE.

One glitch I found was you can fall through the floor at one part of Mellow Cavern (I think that's what it was called), and there's apparently some sort of debug thing left in (the numbers on the left side of the screen when you start a level)

I wasn't sure how to get rid of that, I tried searching through the codes to find what was causing it. If anyone has any idea what it may be, please let me know so I can fix the issue. :v

The first four levels or so are great, but I can't say anything more cause the game lags terribly at Mellow Cavern. The previous levels have some slight lag, but this one just runs too slow for me to bear. And it's a shame, because this sure look like a great fangame! What I don't get it's how many people don't get the lags some some others like me do.

Oh, also someone mentioned it previously, there's a portion of the floor in Mellow Cavern (Jesus, what's wrong with this level?) with no collision at all, so the only way to cross it without falling into the endless pit is walking over the blocks above it.

No idea how that happened, I updated the level and fixed the issue, just waiting for quality control to approve.

That's great! I'm looking forward to the fix.

I think it was the generator platforms, the two that constantly go up or down.

I replaced that with different platforms, and the issue has been fixed. Game is updated

Now the floor problem is solved, but the lag still remains. However, I just ran through the level as quickly as posible in order to play the rest of the game. It looks very promising!

Alright, I'll do some tests to discover the real issue. :3

That would be just sweet! The lag also happens on Morton's Stronghold, but that's probably just because of the mist effect.
So far, I reached world 3, and I have to say, this is one amazing game. It's been long since I played a fangame as good as this. I'll probably make a review about it when I finish it.

Good to hear. I can't find the issue, so I'm just going to re-create the level and see if that will help in any way.

Great. However, I'm afraid of playing the updated version, as I would lose all my progress in the game xDD
There are some more issues I would like to mention, thought these are more like suggestions:
-Right now, the water world is being a pain, because big enemies like Urchins or the ones in Big Baddies Cave (I think that's the name of the level) have too big hit boxes, so most of the time I find myself dying without even touching any enemy. I suppose this is because of the engine used, but you should consider to fix it.
-Also, I've noticed the ammount of lag actually increses with time. What I mean is that, if I play the game for ten minutes, for example, it runs just perfect. However, after some time, the lag starts appearing, and after, let's say, half an hour, it gets anoying. This aplies for one play, as if I close the game and reopen it, the lag disappears until more time has passed. This is an interesting factor, as it seems like if the game was acummulating data from the play, which may explain the lag.

Can you Walljump? What about Ground Pound? Given that there are those weird root thingies, I'm guessing that the ability to pull veggies is indeed possible. Bear in mind I'm posting the comment before I play the game, so...
