I'm a bit late to say this but the game DOES go full-screen if you press F4, and I think it says so in the help file even. But who reads those anyway?
But I should have written that somewhere noticeable I guess.

Where's The FULL GAME?

:( Sorry, the game's been scrapped a long time ago and I forget to update its status.

Again, sorry to those who supported it so much and couldn't wait to play. But you will see some ideas of this being recycled in Mushroom Patrol: Midas Machine, which you can see the forums, and that one will most likely be finished.

THE CONTROOLLES SUCK! A J, SERIOUSELY?!?

I dare say that the controls are better than your spelling. Also, it's F, J and Space.

you should cut him some slack though - this was thrown together quickly for the ncfc minigame comp, so you know

anyway i probably would've liked it more had my j key not been all messed up, but i still enjoyed it for what it was

Well in a way he's right. There was no condition to the NCFC competition that says I must submit it to MFGG after it's done, so yeah I could have taken the extra time and touched it up a little before submitting it.

I just thought I submit it like this to show what's possible with 10 hours of work, so it would be unfair if I got ratings better than full good games.

Thanks for the defense though, I'm glad some people appreciate it despite its size and unpolished-ness. :)

If there weren't so many glitches it would be a good game.
Wario doesn't die when he falls into a pit, would be one of them. The game just continues without him :(

Sometimes a "shadow" of Wario remains when you perform one of his moves.

But at least one can see that you put effort in it, so I hope you fix all that stuff eventually.

This is a really fantastic game, one of the best games on MFGG! I unlocked every stage and bonus stage, but I still have that problem:
It's not a big problem, but can't enter level 5-B from the stage select screen.
It is there, but nothing happens when I select it.

Oh, I'll look into it. When I found the problem I might upload a fixed version.
Don't count on it too soon though, since this is an old game and I'm working on other stuff in the moment.
I'm glad you liked the game and bothered to unlock everything. :)

This game is awesome...except that I am pretty sure it is impossible to get to level 5-B, since getting the mega mushroom in 5-2 is impossible...

That one is pretty hard to figure out, but some people actually did it. I admit, it's a little unfair :)

// Spoilers:
There is a vine in the bottom block of the block column between the pit and the mega mushroom.
First you need to break the block directly above the vine block with the red koopa shell on the top left.
Then you must duckjump as Super Mario into that gap and break the rest of the blocks. Finally hit the remaining block with the other red koopa shell.
// End Spoilers

are you almost done yet?

can u give me maybe a percentage of completion?

Unfortunately I do not have time to work on this game a lot as I have more important things to do in my life (university etc).
It's pretty much still in the same state as you see it here, but don't give your hopes up. I try my best to finish it.

Wait, this is just a Demo? It's 11 MB! When it's finished, I doubt MFGG will even accept a file of its size. Maybe they'll make an exception, but still, it'll have to be pretty good for me to wait through the long download with my dialup :(

...I hate my dialup. A download of this size would be nothing if I had Broadband. Then I could try this out...

It will not become much larger than it already is.
Most of the size comes from the music. The game content itself isn't that much.
Also, for the final version I am planning to release a low-quality music pack for those who can live with that and can't download large files.
Then again, by the time this game is finished, 11 MB will be peanuts to download, so don't worry.

HOW DO YOU BEAT THE KING BOMB?

Avoid him until he attacks by jumping at you. He will land upsidedown. Take advantage of that.

No, it's not, congratulations on finishing the demo.

Thank you for the review, but one question:
Which glitches did you find? I can't think of any in the moment.

wats your other game id like to try it

Hello.

First of all, I'm glad you like my game and are hungry for more :)
If you want to download my other two worthwhile games here, look for "Super Mario Bros. DDX" and "Goomba vs Subcon" here on the mainsite.
Enjoy.

Some advice from me, for the future:
Instead of posting three times in a row, just press the "edit" button in the top-right corner of your posts.

EDIT: There is a way to get past the fish. All it requires is skill, nothing special. It's that hard on purpose for the demo. These fish won't be in the final game, so don't worry :)

what is the <run>-key?

<Ctrl> is the <run> key. But you can change this setup in the title screen.

great job.

btw are you almost done with the full game version?

Unfortunately not. Due to university I can not invest much time in my game projects. There will be holidays soon, though. The final release will take quite some time, don't expect it anytime soon :(

The fast forward uses a function that only works on fast computers. It doesn't work on my old laptop either... sadly there is nothing I can do about this without having to recode the entire game.

Afaik there is a function in GM that allows you to execute the drawing event every [X] steps only, so you can increase the framerate, while decreasing the drawing rate and so keep your speed up.

As for the game itself, I played it and I liked it.
The idea was good (as I've had the same idea years ago, but didn't finish the game) and you did a good job in executing it. The abilities were quite cool and made sense. I liked the puzzles too.

Now minor complaints and suggestions:
Some of the puzzles require dead-on accuracy (as in pixel-perfect clicking. That makes the game very frustrating at certain parts.
That you need to save all 100% of the Marios doesn't help here either. It would be a lot more comfortable if there was a winning rate like in the original game.
Also I noticed that when a Fire Mario is in a crowd, the regular Marios will suck up the fireball command and so keep the Fire Mario from shooting, which is also pretty annoying and adds to the above mentioned frustration.

If you ever update this game or make a sequel, you might keep these in mind.
If I ever play it all the way through I might write a review for this game.

Yeah, but the problem is you made numpads impossible to use :/ I don't get why? I would really like to use it.

Sorry, I forgot to add the numpad keys to the allowed key set.

Sometimes, while playing as Mario, if I'm running then it won't let me jump unil I stop. I've died so many times because of that.

It could be that this is because you chose custom keys that can't be pressed together on your system for some reason. On my keyboard, for example, I can't press F, Up and Left at the same time.

Thanks for the review.

As for the cons:
- Turning automatic switching between levels on or off is planned
- Levels definitely need more life
- Never had problems with the swing bars myself, but if I get enough complaints about them, I might consider changing the controls for them.
