How can it be new but old?

I didn't say "old". Simply play it and you'll find out what I mean.

Rest of you: thanks for the positive comments.

Wow a review. Thanks.

I have to agree with most of your comments. So far it DOES look like a SM642D game and it is pretty much inspired by said game.

About the bro switching, it actually IS a bit annoying in the current state of the game, since those first levels are indeed linear.
I'm thinking about adding options to not be forced into switching.

Also, now that you mention it, it's quite amusing to imagine reasons why the Princess's castle is full of water and other mess, lol

But yeah I like this honest review of yours, and you can be sure that all flaws you pointed out are noted down in my books and like you said about a couple of them are already planned to be improved upon.

Hmm. I cant say its the BEST game I have played, but certainly worth 9/10

One complaint, why is the ice on the 4th boss a duck through platform? I know I and many others have a tendancy to press random buttons when evading attacks, and it made it almost impossible for me to kill him without killing myself.

1) Thanks. 9/10 is encouraging.
2) I must have missed out that you can duck through the ice platforms. No idea how that happened. ^-^
Treat it as a special challenge to train your self control.

oh, yeah.....jus' one more question, how did'ja make cutscenes? i have G.M.7-PRO edition but i D.K. how t'make cutscenes.....Jah? (Jah-yes?)i need cutcenes......

Cutscenes have no definite formula.
You have to find the way that works best with the engine you have.
In this game, I deactivated the controls for the character (by setting a variable) and used a timeline to move him.
You have to figure that out by yourself though. Solving problems your own way is a good way to learn :)

hey, i was jus wonderin' right quick, what the name of the MIDI or song when you must escape the volcano?

It was the evacuation theme from Metroid Fusion I think... But I'm not sure if it's from THAT Metroid.
You should find it on VGMusic.

Mario Gamer, in the Help File it clearly says that you have to press "F4" to go to full screen.

Now that I think of it, I should have made it more obvious by adding a Full Screen button to the title screen... Well at least you know how to go full screen now!

Thanks for the cool review.

Thanks!

To comment about the title screen, I used SMW tiles on purpose, as you're supposed to enter the world of Subcon from there (i.e. you are not yet in Subcon) that's why it looks differently there. ;)

Thanks everybody.
Appearantly it seems I have to update with a boss-healthbar =)
Other stuff:
"Infinite lives": Yes you have, and that's on purpose, instead you lose score.

"Not enough different enemies/Birdo could have different colors (and attacks according to colors, like fireballs)": Because the game was made for a Minigame Competition with limitted time, so I couldn't squish in any more enemies and didn't want to spend too much time changing the game for this version here.

"Special Mission": Same.

"Health restoring items": You have health restoring items, you get them when you defeat a boss.
I didn't put [+] containers in the rest of the levels on purpose as you have infinite lives anyway.

Sorry for my laziness guys, but I really just picked that game up to get rid of the glitches and the rest is like that because I had a time limit.

Still I'm glad that everyone likes the game!

Great Game.
Great intro, fun and solid gameplay.
Haven't played it all, just first level and couldn't defeat the boss. Do I just shoot her/him till he/she dies?
It would be nice if I could just hold the mouse button and the goomba would shoot. Clicking gets tiring quick. I would consider that. Makes the game more enjoyable. :)

To defeat Mouser, you have to shoot at his bombs so they fall back on him.
And you just need a machine-gun powerup to do what you suggested (to keep button pressed to shoot). Look for this power-up, it will make bosses way easier.

a) It was one of the tall brown walls, I walked into it and got stuck. I'm not going to dl it again just to check which though.

b) still though, it is ridiculous to have to sit there and fire twenty bullets into a shy guy before killing it when there is a whole parade of them coming towards you

a) If that is the case I can't help you

b) You don't have to kill ALL enemies. So just skip them if it takes too long for you.

a) I had to close it because I got stuck in the wall, but I do like the movement engine.

b) Also imo it should take a lot less bullets to kill one of the enemies because in the real games they get killed by one hit from a turnip.

a) In what wall did you get stuck and how? That would help a lot to fix this, because to my knowledge you can't get stuck in ANY walls.

b) If that's your only argument read above. I won't change stuff because "it was like that in the real games".

Also thanks for you guys' positive replies so far =)

Wow. That was awesome! I had to quit after the third boss, because my bro wanted on. :( But I'm going to play it some more later! :P

The only problem I have is that you should be able to pause the game. Other than that, It's awesome!

In the Help File it says you can hit F1 to summon the Help File again at any point in the game which is equal to pausing it. Sorry for being lazy and not making an actual pause =3

Which MGC was this for? The theme not the number.
It was #28, "Goomba as the Protagonist". I got only runner-up in case you want to know, mostly because of all the glitches and lag that are not in this version.

is so cool but goomba dont have hands
I know but it's a video game, and based on Mario which is not about logic anyway, so you have to excuse that I put hands for the sake of making the game fun. In the next version, I'll add an option to switch hands off, but you will not be able to win the game then. ;)

No. I just want to say that it is hard. I can't beat the game. I didn't say that I want you to change it "for me". I realy like this game but I believe that it would be better if you make its controling easier. I'm not the only one who believe it.

BUT nevertheless you said it already. Saying it twice will not change anything.

cool, a new twist on a classic!

World 4 is super tough but not impossible.
Only thing that bugs me is the screen shot here.
It show three item boxes on the top of the screen but their not there on the game I downloaded.
Were they extra power-ups? If so it would be a great feature to add. (you know the smw item holder)

I just noticed you are right, the screenshot is out of date. It was from an early demo in which I planned to have such item boxes, but that was canned later. However I forgot to exchange the screen =)
Glad you like the game!

You say positive things about the sound then give a 1? Why?

1) This was a review I made when I was totally angry at something and let it out on Kitsune's game here and it was long long time ago. I should probably request to have it deleted, since it is not a very fair review as it was driven by emotions.
2) I probably ticked the wrong number, can happen.

I get stuck in the pool of water at the beginning of 2-5 and can't jump out.

Hold <UP> and press the Jump Key at the surface to jump out of water.
Have fun with the rest of the game!

This game is very hard to control.

Uhh, you already said that two posts above. Do you want me to change it for you or why do you post that again?

Question: Why was the review removed that I saw yesterday? I didn't notice anything wrong with it.

Pretty good!
Even though it's just a recolor, it's nice, cause i really looks SNESish now.
