General Commentary and Game Overview
Uncreative title? Check. Uncreative plot? Check.

Super Mario Powerup starts out with Peach deciding to go into a castle for a picnic with Mario (????), when suddenly, Bowser comes crashing down, and the suddenly Wario, and then suddenly DONKEY KONG nabs Peach. Where did they come from and why are they all here just to torment Peach and Mario?!

Anyway, E. Gad tells Mario to go and collect stars.

This is where the game starts, and starts becoming not unlike that of Mario 64. You go to different levels to pluck stars. However, these levels are very badly designed, and are filled with dull platforming and not to mention, the levels are ridiculously spacious.

Pros -Movement is solid
-Mario/Luigi mechanic

Cons -SO MUCH EMPTY SPACE
-Dull/boring platforming
-Spacious rooms make for tediousness when it comes to ladders
-The game just isn't pretty to look at
-Bunches of pointless areas
-Dialogue = Bleh
-Uncreative title
-Uncreative story

Impressions
Gameplay
4 / 10
Although the movement is not bad, the level design is disastrous. There's a bunch of uninteresting platforming, and most of the ladders are long and feel like they take forever to climb. The Power-ups and Luigi being playable somewhat make the play mechanics better, except some details are missing, such as being able to shoot fireballs in mid-air.

Graphics
2 / 10
Everything looks like a mess, because the environments are super tinny, and it doesn't help that the camera view is ginormous.

Sound
3 / 10
A lot of generic MIDIs and stuff used here

Replay
2 / 10
This one's a very tough call. On one hand, there seems to be plenty to explore. On the other hand, the game sucks. :/

Final Words
3 / 10
Think of this as a less painful Super Mario Dream World. Still a pretty bad game, though.

Isn't that a bit too harsh? I see, you have a point there, but telling the game sucks doesn't help the creator to improve, but he's just sad and then he thinks that all of his coming projects will also suck.
I guess everyone here started like that, if not even worse. Another point: Check his submissions first! It's his FIRST submission.

I'm going to assume you haven't read the entire review and went straight to the Replay critique, as I'm pretty sure I've stated a good amount of problems with the game that the creator can fix.

Notice I was being "less harsh" on Crump's Revenge, because that game did have some polish, just not executed well. This game is largely unpolished, so I can't tell if the creator was really making that much of an effort. Plus, if you've read his description, he advertises another game he's made. So this clearly isn't his first.

Problems in first games are still problems that need to be addressed.

I don't think that's really relevant.

It's not.
