I really want to like this game, but I can't. The slippery controls and the abuse of invisible blocks make it such a frustrating experience that I couldn't be motivated to play past the third level.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked my review.

I'm aware that there is a Mini Turbo feature in this game, but I never was able to get it to work. It's obviously not necessary for beating the game in Grand Prix mode, although I could probably use it to improve my Time Trial records.

Some GM Studio games don't run properly on computers that have integrated graphics cards - like mine. I use Windows 8.1. You can try updating Studio to the latest version and building a new .EXE, although that probably won't fix it.

Also, I just accepted the new version.

castle/fortress, how old is your PC? Most GM 8 games, including those made with this engine, will work just fine on a computer that lacks a dedicated graphics card. Also, if you have access to another computer that has working audio, you could listen to the sound files on that computer and then copy them to the computer you use for GM development.

I'd love to see someone make a game with this engine, by the way.

It's been a while since I played this game, but if you press Right at World 7-Secret on the map screen, Mario will begin moving endlessly. It seems that one of the map-blocker objects is missing.

(I'm still playing the February 22 version, so if you've already fixed this problem, please ignore this.)

No, they're separate games. I hope we'll receive more Captain Toad submissions in the coming weeks - the category didn't even exist until a couple of days ago.

Yeah, that wall-jumping section is extremely frustrating, especially for the first level of the game! Hello's games have a lot of potential, but the terrible difficulty curve and the depressing, soulless world that's become the norm for Hello games outweighs the cool lighting effects and the nice tileset.

According to the staff activity graphs, the number of submissions in 2014 has dropped by nearly 50% compared to 2013. Some of this is because of the new Submission Guidelines, which have helped reduce the number of blatantly bad submissions in the queue - the new submission rules are more detailed and are easier to understand.

Also, fall has typically been the least active period for MFGG, as it's often the most active time for those in school. Still, the fall slumber has been a bit deeper than usual.

Thanks for the review! That's basically what the game was supposed to be - a minigame you could pick up and play, without too much length or depth.

The gun is based on the NES Zapper, and the sound that plays when it fires is the sound of an actual Zapper.

It's never too late to remove an unneeded "also".

The Vinny Ninja came and fixed the month for Coco's GOTM award.

While the month technically isn't over yet, I think the August GOTM is fairly easy to guess!

Hmm, I should've tried that. I was accustomed to SMB2 keys that always stayed in the same place.

I played most of World 1 and enjoyed the experience, although I saw a few things that need tinkering. For one thing, it's possible to fall off the right-hand edge of the screen in 1-4, and in 1-Fortress, you can't climb ladders while holding the key, so if you accidentally fall down the ladder with the key, you're stuck.

You updated it after it was first accepted. It should be in the Graphics section now, though.

Either way, the thumbnail doesn't do a good job of showing what's on the sheet, so I changed it.

Oh yeah, I see that Syr's review for Fusion Revival is still in the queue. I'll probably keep it on the list, though, because SMF:R has been reviewed only once and technically isn't on the site yet.

It's not a localization job with Nintendo, but if it was, that would officially be my dream job! Instead, it's an exercise in a computer science curriculum that mentions famous people in programming and game design - which is cool in itself.

Rage_quitter_98: Be patient, my friend. Every submission has to be checked by at least two staff members before it's accepted or declined, and it may take a few weeks for a submission to be processed.

Also, today's work involved the intersection of Pokemon and state curriculum standards. This is the most creative use of Bulbasaurs ever.

This is one of the better Mario Breakout games I've played, although there's some glitchiness (for example, one block got caught against a brick, causing the brick shards to keep appearing without the block getting destroyed), and if you're running Windows 8.1, the game crashes shortly after the Bullet Bills start appearing.

Not bad, but for future reference, the enormous "SPACE" text is quite unnecessary.
