If I gotta be honest, it's just that the Poltergust 3000 didn't suck up a mew, an ice cream, or a teddy bear. It is secretly an ice cream machine and that's why Luigi is able to use it to spray ice on ghosts. E. Gadd would probably do that.

Gonna be real though, this is not a reference to the Fire Flower. I'd say this looks more like a traditional tulip flower, and there are even more flowers like this in Kirby's Dream Land 3 and even in other Kirby games. A huge stretch to say it references the Fire Flower from the Mario games, y'know. EDIT 04-14-2024: WiKirby got me! There's another flower like that in the same game that DOES reference the Fire Flower (with a similar shape and the Japanese name translating to "Pseudo Fire Flower"), it's the one at the end of Stage 1 of Cloudy Park.
