Pros | Fairly original storyline, nice blend of graphics, some interesting bits. |
Cons | Gameplay feels as though it's lacking something, annoying 1 pixel gaps between tiles (Although this doesn't happen on all computers). |
Gameplay 6 / 10 |
I've never used GameMaker other than to play other people's games, but I have seen some fantastic things come from the program (Like pretty much everything Guinea has made recently, Gamester's work, etc.)... and some horrible things that shouldn't even be labelled as games. SLD lies somewhere in between. It's got a lot of nice elements in the game that are different to others, but the general movement just feels odd for a Mario title. Luigi is usually the higher jumping but harder to control Mario brother, however in SLD Luigi is able to just stop whenever he pleases without any decelleration at all. It sort-of looses it's feel because of this, but is made up in other areas as the engine suffers from very few glitches at all. Still, a much greater improvement from the ridiculously overrated "Super Mario SkyHigh 2". |
Graphics 7 / 10 |
Some are custom, some are ripped, but all come together pretty nicely. There is a wide selection of sprites used in this game, ranging from Super Princess Peach to Super Mario Bros. 3, but there is very little sprite clashing and looks very nice indeed. The only complaint I have about the choice of graphics is the world map, as the graphics here tend to clash and ruin the otherwise very nice-looking game. Some users (Like myself) also suffer from 1 pixel gaps between tiles, which also spoils the overall look of the game. Nothing that Hatman probably couldn't fix however. |
Sound 6 / 10 |
Average MIDIs and sounds that are used in many games and don't really get old. The MIDIs aren't the best, but nothing to worry about really. |
Replay 7 / 10 |
There's a save system, but it didn't really interest me enough to want to go through the entire game. However I'm sure it will be able to entertain others as it's of a fairly big size and is bound to last a while. |

Far greater than Super Mario Skyhigh 2, Super Luigi Dreams will offer plenty of entertainment for those who want it. Not the best Mario platformer out there, but certianly not the worst. |

The 1 pixel gap is a gamemaker fullscreen, stretched view thing. To stop it you have to make the window normal size, but the game won't let you do it. |
