Pros | +None that I can think of, really. It was nice to hear custom SMW music for a change, but other than that, there's nothing really unique or noteworthy to write about. |
Cons | -The physics are quite off. I played as Luigi, and his jump was ridiculously high and fast, his run was unbearably slow, and his fireballs traveled more downward than toward the right or left; it felt like you were just dropping them like a yo-yo. -I should probably mention that both Mario Bros. look odd; they're both skinny as rails and their skin color is a lot darker than normal (it's just a color palette error). -The level design and graphics hold nothing of interest, either. Just imagine the All-Stars version of SMB1, only with a different art design. As for the levels, they may have been intentionally new, but they really just feel like the original levels with slightly different layouts. |
Gameplay 4 / 10 |
I feel that this game could've been more of a joy to play if it were built using a well-polished engine, like Hello's or Drag's. I could probably enjoy the game just fine if it were just the player physics that were changed. |
Graphics 6 / 10 |
Well, aside from the Mario Bros., the graphics are nice. But like I said, they're nothing unique; they're just SMB1 All-Stars graphics with a different style. |
Sound 10 / 10 |
Sound was no issue for me; the music is in high quality and the sound effects do their job. |
Replay 7 / 10 |
If the player physics were more polished, I could see myself playing this again. But until then, I have other games that will keep me occupied. |

I'm perfectly OK with remakes, re-tellings, and continuations, as long as they look decent, play well, and/or have unique twists or features to them, such as game modes, for example. Unfortunately, this game only does the first of those three things. There's nothing unique about this game, and this certainly isn't the best of Coco's work. |
