That's... Not how the NES works, the Fireball would have to use 4 unique 8x8 tiles rather than 2 8x8 tiles because the NES doesn't flip sprites vertically, most NES games use completely vertically flipped sprites that are separate from the normal sprites since the hardware wasn't capable of doing it. (ps. most sprite sheets don't include it because if you're trying to recreate stuff like that, most modern art programs/engines allow you to rotate and flip images.) also really good sheet

don't multiple mario games show smb1 mario without a hat? like super mario odyssey and smm1? oh and i think one of the mario party games has a custom smb1 small mario fall sprite so i think you can make a super mario version of it
