General Commentary and Game Overview
After a string of low-scoring reviews, I hoped today to give a game a good score. A Koopa's Adventure is the answer to my prayers. There are certain minigames, such as Boo Escape and Smash the DS, that I would rather play, but these certain games are few and far between.

Pros Gameplay isn't overly simple.
Graphics all go well together.
Sound and music choices are brilliant.
On the whole, the engine runs smoothly.

Cons A couple of glitches here and there.

Impressions
Gameplay
9 / 10
Play as a koopa troopa in this platform-style minigame, taking out goombas and smashing your way through brick walls. What makes this game stand out is the use of koopa's shell. Not only does this add a certain complexity to the game, but it also matches the expectations of the player.
The engine isn't perfectly smooth, however. On level 2, one of the goombas in the enclosed space didn't move at all, and it is possible for the player to get killed by going off the screen by ways other than falling down a bottomless pit. These glitches are minor, however, and don't hinder the gameplay greatly.

Graphics
9 / 10
Just your usual, SMB3 sprites. I know that some people would dock 3 or 4 marks for graphics for this reason alone. However, just be glad that the graphics don't clash, with the likes of a YI koopa troopa on an SMB3 background.

Sound
8 / 10
While I cannot argue with the choices of sound effects and background music, I'd suggest one thing to Hello: put a sound_stop_all() script at the very beginning of the game, since on the first turn, I was skidding, but hit a goomba by accident, and the skidding sound continued to play even after restarting the game.

Replay
9 / 10
Even if the prospect of beating your score doesn't appeal to you, the prospect of seeing what (if anything) is at the end of the game should surely be enough to warrant a few more plays.

Final Words
9 / 10
It's good to see that there are still people who put time and effort into a worthwile game. A Koopa's Adventure should keep any Mario fan entertained for a while.
