Howdy there folks! We have an exciting announcement to make!

First of all, let’s give a round of applause to Mors! He’s been working his rear end off implementing features to the main site, such as allowing the user to filter the highest quality fangames the site has to offer. We also created a special Hall of Fame section full of notable fan games of this year and beyond! If you’re making a game, now is an opportunity for you to shine! Again, you’ve done a splendid job Mors!

Onward to our next announcement.

MFGG Review Drive 2019

When is the last time you remember there being a review drive? Well, I don’t remember as well since based on my knowledge, the last review drive happened over a decade ago hosted by ShadowMan. I think Pedigree might also attempt to do a review drive but I am not entirely sure if it’s actually an event or not.

I went over all of the submissions on the main site and there are numerous games and hacks that were unreviewed.

However, unlike last time, we will host a competitive event and see who can be an efficient and insightful reviewer (main site rules still apply to all of the review).

We will list several games and hacks on a weekly basis (we will refer to this as the "weekly list”). Each user has to earn points depends on what kind of game/hack they have reviewed. We recommend to review what is listed on the weekly list but you are free to submit a review that is not on the weekly list. If your review does not abide to the main site submission rules, you will not gain points. Depending on number of participants, we will get 1-3 winners based on the highest points. We will update our weekly list at Sunday.

Here are the rules for points, please understand that the numbers of the reviews apply based on the number of reviews at the start of the week (at the time we update our weekly list):
  • 5 points - writing a review on a game/hack that is listed on the weekly list
  • 3 points - writing a review on a game/hack that has no reviews and is NOT listed on the weekly list
  • 2 points - writing a review on a game/hack that has 1-2 review(s) and is NOT listed on the weekly list
  • 1 point - writing a review on a game/hack that has 3 or more reviews and is NOT listed on the weekly list
  • 1 bonus point - writing a review on a game that is on the Hall of Fame list (regardless of time and year)

There are selected few games that will have additional bonus points like OS compatibility, identifying foreign language, and/or other special situations.

This event will last from 2 to 3 weeks depending on the number of reviews we have received. Each participant who scored over 10 points will be rewarded a special badge! Depending on the number of winners, those who have the highest score will receive a different badge. Winners will be placed in the hall of fame as soon as that feature is complete.

All right, let's cut to the chase.

Please visit here for the weekly list.

Let the reviews begin!

Last of all, here is our latest submission update:

EDIT: My apologies for leaving this out but we are now accepting Pokemon submissions!
EDIT2: Due to the fact I am not available on a daily basis, I have updated daily list to weekly list.

Looking at the WiTT Episode 2 link provided, the description of the game states that we must post reviews on the high-end version, not this one.
Not sure if we should post it on there regardless, but I thought I should point that out.

Good point. I have updated the daily game list. In addition to that. After reconsidering, I have also removed penalty points.

I see that the Classic MFGG skin (pre-2006) has been fixed back to what it was before, which I appreciate. :)

The hall of fame and additional sorting options for games and hacks are nice additions! Great job, Mors! Do you plan to to tell us what kinds of algorithms were used for those new sorting options? I'm rather curious. It's odd seeing Go! Go! Gooble!! in page 2 for popular games (I mean, is it really more popular than Abducted Toad and Super Mario Bros. Dimensions?).

Also, nice to see that Pokemon submissions are now acceptable. :) (Are rips still not allowed?)

Thanks! It's mainly score, with downloads and views both having a major impact on score as well. Number of reviews and the date of the game does have an effect too but that's rather minimal.

Your game is on the second page probably because it's somewhat new and it has a pretty high score.

The average review score is broken once again since the code I implemented takes too long to load. We do have to find an alternative way to fix it.

And yeah, that's a good question. We can discuss and settle whether we accept Pokemon rips or not.
