I'm actually glad to hear that, because it messed with my mind too ...or was it the other way around? Anyway, so it's kind of an awesome mess, which is: Spectacular.

is this another april fools joke because this game no work for me.

Have you saved and moved (unzipped or extracted) the Galaxy Bros folder from the zip-file you downloaded?

I'll try to help getting around the issue, by looking in the work log:
1. Look in the folder where you downloaded the game, or the "Galaxy Bros" folder.
2. Find the file "Galaxy Bros log.txt" and open it *
3. It'll show text, copy that text (press CTRL + A, then CTRL + C).
4. Comment here, with the text (press CTRL + V to paste). The text should be similar to the following:

___Galaxy Bros log___

Program starting 2009-04-02 18:22:44
Version number 4
At window creation
At game loading
At timers initializing
...

* If you cannot find the file "Galaxy Bros log.txt", make sure you select "Save" when downloading "galaxy_bros.zip" from this site, and that you extract all files from it. Did it help?

Nice game my only complain are the controlss when you reach the right/left site of the planet you had to press up/down to keep walking i found this quite annoying you know had to change direction key to keep going.

If you made it like when you press than direction key you keep runing untill you press the other direction, it would have been a little confusing when you reach the other site of the planet yes i can understand that but it would be way easyer to control that way.

I pretty much agree with Vg Lizards.
The game is pretty cool. But the controls are pretty annoying. Left should ALWAYS head towards Mario's left, and right should ALWAYS head towards Mario's right.

This game is really good. I have to say i am impressed. And it is not every day that i am impressed ;)

Amazing platform concepts and designs, fairly good graphics, but the controls could use improvment. i'd give this 8/10

This game is the best non-game maker game I've ever played.

It's got it's glitches, light on the CPU, and I like it.

336 Points here. The controls are a tad annoying, and you should make it if you have too little score (eg. -50) you explode.

That is a good opinion. The Sonic games do that in loops, and Super Mario Galaxy on some spinning wheels, and there it worked pretty nicely.

I thought about those controls for a while, but preferred the current simply directional controls (which are sometimes unintuitive, indeed).

Actually, that is possible, from the menu. Click on Menu, Options, Control and Clockwise.

I kind of wanted to give a strong impression, or a strange perspective on Super Mario Bros.

me too.

Did you try saving and unzipping the game folder? (It's unfortunately not possible to start the game inside the zip file, because the graphics and sound files must be unzipped first.)

If that doesn't work, maybe you can comment again with the text from the file "Galaxy Bros log.txt". That text usually explains the cause.

Haha, that would be indeed look cool! The event does exist in the game code, but the player character is now invulnerable. Thank you for your nice comment :)

That's great to hear! Even the original Super Mario Bros really is quite obscure, and I had fun when trying to emphasize that obscurity.

Haha, you always win eventually, the Mario/Luigi look-alikes are invulnerable. When you reach the finish and input your name and points you kind of win. If you want to win in points too, is up to you :)

Your computer is displaying a 16-bit color setting, but the game can only start in 24-bit or 32-bit colors, I'm sorry for that. If you want to try badly you can try changing color setting before starting the game (be careful): Right-click on your desktop background, select "Properties" in the drop-down menu, select the "Settings" tab, then change the setting "Color quality" to 24-bit or 32-bit.

There is so much wrong with this post it's funny.

it was Super Mario 128, which was what Sunshine was going to be called. In addition, it's...

COINCIDENCE, NOT IRONY

I mainly wrote code in the C++ programming language, which is quite different compared to things like Game Maker. For me it took several years to learn the C++ language, and now I used it to program this game.

Since C++ is pure text, I used a program named "Visual C++ 2005 Express" to convert that text into the exe file you play.

Game Maker is often better than C++, for making 2D games.

I made most of the graphics using Adobe Photoshop.

hmm. i'm probably not saying anything new here, but this game is AWESOME but has a few problems-
1- if it is possible to run out of oxegen, how much you have left usn't displayed/drawn anywhere i can see.
2-the controls are hard to get used to.

other than that, great job!

You need oxygen to get points, that is all. And points are mostly for bragging :D

So if you don't collect the oxygen bubbles, all that happens is that your points eventually decrease to negative numbers.

I doesn't tell controls in-game, and it doesn't tell you what to do.

There's no titled screen, and overall no point.

YOU should shut up and go away!

I like the Super Mario Bros approach to that :D
So it might've been nice with a simple NES gamepad.
