General Commentary and Game Overview
Paper Mario World is a very exciting experience. It's a terrible, terrible game, but it has length to it, making it a true challenge to endure. Laughably bad, but that's the charm. I think its time we dove into whats considered the worst mario fangame - of all time.

Pros Outrageously entertaining

Cons Everything. The pro is part of the cons, too.

Story:
The story involves a plot similar to SMRPG. Mario finds out the princess has been kidnapped, but when he gets there, an earthquake occurs and Exor crashes into the castle! The storyline is really terrible, everything is hastened along, and any time the plot gets to a point where something doesn't make sense, the creator simply makes something up. Along the journey, Mario finds 3 helpers, Goombario (Used 3 times to my memory), Kooper (Used once) and Bombette (Used once). These helpers add absolutely nothing to the story except some extra text (Which I'll get into later). Also, about a quarter through the game you assume the role of Kirby, who somehow meets up with Mario. At this point you can play with 2 players, but Mario and Kirby play identicly. Later in the game, the two are seperated and you are forced to play as Kirby again. In the end, everyone finds each other at Smithy's castle, which looks exactly like bowsers castle and....is in bowser's castle. (Which is odd becasue that means there are two Exors.)The strangest part of the story in my opinion happens after you beat Smithy, Bowser just appears out of nowhere and without any diolouge explaining what's going on, you "fight" him and then the game's over, no explination about that, just saying Smithy's gone, etc. The story is bad, but that isn't the main problem with this game.

Controls: Confusing. I still don't know what the p2 controls are for kirby, but they don't matter as this is never required. You move with the arrow keys, shift to jump and control to shoot a very odd-looking fireball. Kirby attacks in a similar manner, but instead of fireballs, he throws doors from kirby games (?) and makes annoying sound effects. There are some parts that play like a top-down RPG, but they use the same sprites so it's just bad. As for the helpers, Goombario just comes at random. When you first get him, he follows you (being absolutely useless) until Luigi gives you a device that lets you hold party members. (Even more useless, the creator just made it probably so he wouldnt have to keep adding partners in every room)He's supposed to be used to go into "small rooms" but this is just an excuse to play as another character, as gameplay differs not when playing as him except for the fact that you cannot attack. Kooper is triggered by pressing K for a few levels after you get him, but he does nothing except for grabbing the one key you use him for, and after a few levels the k key doesn't work anymore. Bombette is used on ONE LEVEL with the b key, and you cannot use her again after this.

Other gameplay aspects:
The level design is atrocious, and all the bosses are the same: some sprite runs around the room (or bounces, or follows a path) and you have to shoot it until it dies. Also, kirby can't fly until a very late point in the game. Why?

And there, I'm done with GP. 2/10 because it had slight potential.

Graphics
1 / 10
Ok, this game really failed here. Name any Mario game, and I will bet you I can find a sprite from it here. I'm sorry, but I'm just a bit weirded out when I see Paper Mario in a SMW/YI level mix with Super Mario RPG enemies flying across the screen. Whats even odder is some of these enemies, such as koopas and goombas, switch to more fitting YI sprites in later levels, then go back to the SMRPG style, with no change in how they act.

Not much more to say about graphics, they suck and there's a lot of stuff out of place, bad backgrounds, white backgrounds, etc. 1/10, the game's worst point.

Sound
3 / 10
BGM:
Possibly the best part about this game. There's a lot of cool remixes in here thay I haven't heard before, but maybe thats because I'm new here. (This is my first review.) Some of the music is out of place, though.

Sound effects: Hoo boy, here we go. The voice acting. I almost wanted to mute my computer when I kept hearing the dramatic "Press enter....to continue"s. The creator either was trying extreamly hard to sound annoying, or used a voice changer, because this voice acting is incredibly annoying. And then, about halfway through the game, it just stops, and is replaced by text speaking onscreen, which is more annoying because each line stays onscreen forEVER, and there's no button to advance to the next piece of diolouge. But I digress from a more serious point, the actual sound effects. Terrible. Everything is either way too soft or way too loud, so I had to keep ajusting my volume. 3/10, because the music's ok.

Replay
6 / 10
I feel like replaying this game right now, simply because it's a fun game to just play through to see how bad it is. This is my first review, and I love playing and critisizing bad games, so you'll see a lot more of me on this site. Get used to it! Replay gets a 7/10, as I'm likely to come back to this for a good laugh and to reassure myself that even though I'm not a great game maker, at least I'm not THIS bad.
