Many thanks for the review, Syax!

I have to agree that there are a few areas where it can be difficult to squirm out of a tight spot when the baddies are closing in on you. I also kind of agree that the powerups relying on RNG to spawn can be frustrating, but I wasn't sure how to best implement it at the time, but the deadline was approaching so I just went with the first thing that came to my mind. The game might've benefited from a wider screen in the long run...but it was either that or the aesthetic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As for the fact that you only saw two unique stages, I'm willing to bet that's because you only saw the game up to round 3. The two unique boards are accessed by round 4 and 8. I somewhat based the rotation off of Donkey Kong's system; the first rotation has only two stages, the second has three, and all subsequent ones have all four.

Sounds like an issue with your graphics card then. Unfortunately, it doesn't work on all systems, so there's not much you can do aside from get a new graphics card (although I would definitely not expect anyone to do this just for a short minigame :V)

I've uploaded yet another version of this game in the queue that fixes this. Follow the same directions to delete the folder "toadettearcade".

Dang, didn't know everyone's computer resolutions were that low :/

Try pressing X twice once the game is completely booted up, then press left either once or twice.

I couldn't play. The game's resolution took over most of my screen with just a corner.

I just uploaded a fixed version, but the options are carried over from the old version to the new one, so you'll still get the large screen. To fix this, navigate to %localappdata% and delete the folder named "toadettearcade" before running the game.

I guess I can understand why the sounds used for Dorito Mario flying can be a bit grating.

Also, the pit is there for you to use as a quick way to kill yourself if you lose the race against Sanic.

I actually agree that Mighty No. 9 is awful, but two updates in a row blatantly poking fun at it is a bit much, no?

Hylian thought the last update wasn't "obvious" enough. ;)

It's not that weird for me.

"Someone should make a game with his nifty stuff!"

Here comes another huge mind-blowing project that will never get finished!

I always get excited when people are doing stuff with the SMB2 theme for Super Mario Maker! The recolors aren't that bad, but the autobombs could use a little tweaking, specifically with the SMB3 theme.

You forgot a condition.

"Is this an accomplishment for doing a good clean-up job, a setback because we're running out of content, or a new staff member actually doing the job he was assigned?"

I'm not even going to try to deal with you once.

There is no music for this skin. That's all you should've needed to know, and it was told to you multiple times.

If you're going to continue arguing about random recolors (which you're failing tremendously at, by the way), have it in a private discussion. Either that, or knock it off before this floods my inbox.

Well, that wasn't exactly the score I was expecting. Thanks for reviewing, though! Most of the humor comes from references to other games or media, which is probably why you didn't really find it funny. Either that, or my writing is weaker than I'd like to imagine.

I've never seen him even interact with anyone on this website, ever.

The furthest extent that I've seen him interact with someone is when he either tries to fix someone's technical problems, or tries to think of a rebuttal when someone criticizes him.

...What?...

It's an inside joke of walruses being a high and mighty entity to MFGG.

I'm just saying that the point has already been made clear by dozens of people and that anyone else looking to review this should at least bring something new to the table. It would also help if they weren't attempting (and failing) to troll other members.

Geez, is this seriously still going?

If you don't have anything positive to say, don't say it. Otherwise, you will displease the great walrus in the sky.

And you do not want to displease the great walrus in the sky.

You're lucky that other people have joked about my username before, but you seriously need to be careful with this stuff. What's a joke to one person may be taken very seriously by another.

Besides, that joke was very stupid.

Dare I ask, what exactly is the problem in that? Give the guy some credit, he’s been doing this for ten years and has improved by leaps and bounds over that time, why does he deserve so much flack for it?

If anything, it's because he's wasting all the potential he has. He's got nearly 10 years of experience with engines and programming, I'd at least expect him to try something new with them and not ignore every single bit of criticism he gets.

What’s everyone expecting, for Hello to completely re-gut his engine, hire a professional sprite team, plea to Nintendo for an official license, and design the epitomic 2D Mario game to smash all others? Because as incredible as that would be, IT. DOES. NOT. NEED. TO. HAPPEN. More likely than not, Hello is doing this as a hobby, and most of you are treating it like he’s a professional indie developer charging $14.99 a game! UGH.

We never said anything like that. We at the very least advise him to try something different, not go AAA. If you always did the same thing over and over again with each task you accomplished for 10 years, wouldn't you and others get annoyed too?
Quote (Gameactive on Sep 15 2015, 10:06 PM)
And if you want the Mario Bros. to have a new (read: Super Mario World) coat of paint, just get over it. Those who have hate hearing you complain about it.

Again, this is a case of Hello not trying something different and listening to people that want to help him. I'm extremely certain that there's at least 3 styles of graphics that have everything he needs.
Quote (Gameactive on Sep 15 2015, 10:06 PM)
Is that really the only “improvement” you can find up from, say, SMB Kingdom Troubles to this game? I agree, the lighting gimmick has become overused, but that is far from the only thing to have changed. Is it too much to ask that you play the game you’re ragging on so much, if only to notice the subtle tweaks along with the major improvements?

Yes, there may be improvements, but they're pretty much small enough to be insignificant. I know I said that my review would be comparing this game to his others, but not one specific game.
Quote (Gameactive on Sep 15 2015, 10:06 PM)
About the ego issue… I’m not really seeing it. Sure, the towns are named after him, but the NPCs within them don’t boast about him at all. They instead talk about his games/engine and how they were built, only occasionally naming a favorite or something like that. It’s practically no different than discussing on a forum.

Because a mediocre game is suddenly everyone's saving grace (Super Mario Dynamo) just because Hello said so and everyone is just fine with that. Beyond that, this is not a very respectful way for Hello to treat his critics that tried to help him in the past. Look at other people's reviews to see what I'm talking about.

...actually, if you have such an issue with everyone's "complaining", how come you haven't reviewed the game yourself?
Quote (Gameactive on Sep 15 2015, 10:06 PM)
Also, keep in mind that this is EXPLICITLY a ten-year anniversary game, and that he ought to have some leeway for that.

I at least acknowledged that Hello has been able to pull this off for 10 years, but that doesn't excuse the same stuff he's been doing for all this time with only minor improvements.
