General Commentary and Game Overview
This is one of the shortest demos I've ever played. Usually I have a whole bunch to talk about, but this time, I'll have to keep it short. (Or maybe not. Id I'm in a writing mood, I'll have a lot to say.)
Anyways, the game started with a picture saying Super Mario World, with an ugly font saying Revolution. It says press start, and you click it. Problem 1) Why can't you just map that to the enter button? It isn't very hard, is it? Anyways, you get a text wall of information, and if you're like me, I ignore it because I actually have to sit up in my chair and READ it. A video cutscene is much better in my opinion, and it looks like the game was made by professionals. When you do that, you go to this map. It looks like the most ugliest map I've ever seen because it has no HUD or anything. So when you start a level, it has your SMW graphics, music you've already heard, and a sub-par engine. There's a lack of HUD, and you can actually get stuck in blocks occasionally. And if you press left and right at the same time, you get Mario walking backwards in place. (Do the walking jerk.) When you reach the end of the level, there's the end of level goal thing, you go through it, Mario does a peace sign animation, and with no effects at all, you return to the map. (By the way, the HUD doesn't go away when Mario does the animation.) Same thing with the second level actually. The good thing about the engine is there's fully functioning Koopas and junk, and the score things pop up above their heads when you hurt them or whatever. At the castle level, there's a obnoxiously big sign that says "END OF DEMO" which is not needed whatsoever. It doesn't return you to the titlescreen upon reaching the level, nor does it exit the game.
