Mario Kart - Blazing Wheels
preview

Hello, MFGG!

Those of you who remember this project probably already forgot about its existence - and if not, they probably highly doubted this game would ever reach the day of completion. Well, to be honest, this game has been finished for a long time already. Why haven't I released it, you ask? Well, there were some things about it that I wanted to improve. Several slight bugs and lack of polish being my main concern. However, I never got around to polishing this game up as I wanted to have it, and later I just lost interest. Now, I added some slight final touches to it, even if it's not how I initially wanted it to turn out, but it's something solid. I hope you enjoy it - 3D Mario Kart games isn't what you see on MFGG everyday!

You are free to post suggestions, but I won't work on this game anymore. I'm more likely to start something new or continue Speed Strife, because I simply don't wanna bother with this anymore - the coding style is deprecated and it was still made in GM8.

Also, the game bugs out on several systems it appears. Various street tiles will disappear and the background won't be drawn properly, along with several other issues. I assume this is related to a graphics card incompatibility.

Default controls (they are customizable):
Arrow Keys - Steering
Z - Acceleration
X - Brake
C - Item

You need to collect 150 coins in every cup to unlock the next one - so don't forget collecting those! Luckily, once you got them they cannot be taken from you anymore.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this game - I had a lot of fun making it. So get racing, and godspeed!

Your review has been declined. Try to be more constructive with your criticism and maybe play past the first level to be able to give some actual feedback instead of just bashing the game.

I've actually enjoyed this game, but there's one flaw: Why is there a lack of sounds? That's one aspect that kinda ruins this a bit... It's still a fun game and highly enjoyable, but I'm sure there are lots of MK Super Circuit sound-rips! Could you plaes update that? And also, are the levels self-made? They show a lot of creativity! My score for now: 8/10

Yep, it's one of the only Mario Kart games out here with custom track layouts. I didn't add more sounds because all MK SFX rips I could find were low quality and/or only voices.

I would've, but because the game was just so damn slow and it just looked so bad (I'm referring to the mix of SNES and Super Circuit graphics), I didn't really care to go any further.

Well, then, perhaps you could've improvised and used sound effects from other games. Or you could find and edit sounds from other websites. Better than having no sound effects and just adding more blandness to the game.

If you can't even bother to play further I recommend not bothering to review either. The slow aspect is your computer's fault. All people that can play it without lag confirm it's not too slow at all. And I wonder where you are seeing SNES graphics. All graphics are from Super Circuit. The only SNES graphics I used are some from Yoshi's Island for the third track and some from Mario's Time Machine for the first track of the special cup, but since you didn't even bother to play those, I doubt you were referring to them. And those barely clash.

I'll write a review level, but from what I've played, the animations were pretty lackluster, the sfx is almost non existent, and most importantly, the AI is very stubborn.

I at least like the 3D, map, and camera view after finishing a race.

lol it must be nice to be quality control. You can decline any review submission that you are not to fond of. Anyway nice game, it is way better than my other attempt. Great job.

It takes 2 staffers to accept or decline a review.
Another staffer had to have agreed that it was worth declining for it to finally be declined, and not the one alone.

I wrote a review in which i have played the game on my brand new Windows XP Desktop. I have said that it is below average due to the wonky level design, lack of sfx, and some questionable design choices.

Image of the Wonky level design on my Windows XP Desktop:

http://i.imgur.com/s2w1MnE.jpg

However, when i got the chance to play it on my High-end Laptop: The levels were normal. There were also no mentioned requirements so it begs to ask if this was tested throughout or not. I'll have to revise my review to exclude about the level design before it gets accepted.

And no... The speed is actually a bit slow. It's not very very slow but the screen of the game draws so much in some levels to which it does drop the frame rate of the game.

One more thing: If your game gets critiqued on, take the time to skim/read the review before you go deleting them. Now i don't care whether you're the owner of MFGG or just someone in the quality control department but criticism (either form) does help in ways to which you can improve on. Even harsh criticism at times could build a small path to something you might have not checked upon.

And if your excuses are to go blame others and their PC's on why the game feels slow while my Laptop runs the levels of the game normally in comparison to a Desktop (Which is brand new and installed with several graphics drivers as well as DirectX and Windows XP), it shows how un-optimized your game is and this is just a fan game.

@ UnHolyDarkth: I do read reviews before I "delete" them. I can't delete them anyway, I can only vote to decline them. Your review was well-written, and I agree with many points you brought up. However, your main issues appeared to be caused simply by incompatibilites which is why I voted to decline it. I don't do that because it's my game and I don't want bad scores all over it, I just want fair ratings. I'd do that with any other game as well. Also, keep in mind this is only a fangame. I can only test it on my own computer, and everybody else who played it didn't run into any problems. I did add a note to the description however, that this issue might be related to integrated graphics card, because this appears to be the cause of several of my other games made with Studio to bug out. The note still needs to be approved in the queue, though. Now that you are able to rewrite the review based on an actual experience, I will accept the updated review.

I just don't get why some people are somewhat negative against this game. You don't see 3D(Mode7?)MarioKart Games all over the place. And it definetly is in a few things much better than "New Super Mario Kart", which also had its' flaws.
This game sure is decent, only the soundeffects are the worst about it. But everythin' else is fine.

Looks like my review is up, I left a couple simple system tweaks to make the game possibly run a bit faster.

It's 3D, not Mode 7. Well, I didn't put too much effort into the basic engine and the game is very unoptimized, so it feels like a rather cheap copy to some people. But I'm currently working on Speed Strife, which will put this game in the shadows.

Very likely that you ran the game directly from the ZIP.

I don'r judge on difficulty. If I suck at your game that doesn't mean your game sucks. But I got to say, this game is BRUTAL. it reminds me of when I played sonic drift and blasted off the edge of he turns. Otherwise Best Fangame Ever. Most of the fangames I played are crappy top view games, not veiwed from the back of the car like real mariokart.

Adding a review. I'm coming for you :/ This game ran perfectly on my laptop xD since it's an MSI. Unfortunately... this game was quite brutal. "Best Mario Kart fangame ever" is giving it too much credit. I played another one that controlled way better.

Was my Mario Kart clone literally the only one that featured online multiplayer o.O?

Eh, it's ok. Item boxes seem to be really unfair for the CPUs tho, once i got hit by 2 red shells at once.
