I really like these!

Not really a fan of the pillow-shadedness. But otherwise it's decent.

I'm sorry but that was the funniest 'final words' I've ever read. Like, ever. And I've seen some HILARIOUS 'final words' in my day.

I thought Speed Strife had one of the most creative Rainbow Road designs I've ever seen.

....it's just mk8.

These custom controls are a nightmare. I appreciate that you included them, but they aren't designed well. There needs to be a "cancel" button or a "save" button or something, because I can't exit the menu no matter what button I press, and it never saves. Not to mention it doesn't explain which button in the menu does what. Even if "brake = go back" is intuitive, it should explain it because it's a PC game.

Also, the game somehow remembers the settings even if I delete everything from the directory and re-download the files. Why is this? Why can't I just delete the data.win and start over? This is frustrating. :(

I can't start playing until I get help with this. Not sure what I did wrong, but it's broken for me.

Then what is blank space if you want to explain/credit someone in this sheet? That's obviously very illogical. Blank space is bad if you leave it, but it's excellent if you want to use it for explaining the sheet/crediting someone in text.
Perhaps I've phrased myself incorrectly before.

Really, you could cut the original out, as it servers no purpose other than reference, to my knowledge, and put "Original by Super justinbros; edited by DJ Coco. Pls don't credit me. To load in GM, crop to pixel above the red line and rename to <spritename>_strip8" or something similar in smaller text, basically making the whole thing more concise without losing essential content.

Now he cans stop complaining about people needing to rip the backgrounds.

/snark

These are actually some impressive rips, ian!

Nice rips, but there is WAY too much wasted space with all that text.

I kind of wish that reviews would warrant an inbox message so stuff like this doesn't go unnoticed. :S

-Only four minigames
-Lack of multiplayer
Both of these will be addressed in the "new" game.

Like in Mario Party, you can play a set of minigames. I liked them (expect for the fourth one, as I dislike chance-based games), and they are all original to me, as I've never seen anything like them.
Thanks. I do agree about Barrel Blast; I assume you're referring to the occasional-to-frequent "items pop up for my opponents and not me or vice-versa"? If and maybe when I update that one, I'll remove the luck-factor.

As with any Wiiboy game, the graphics are amazing. The effects look good, yet again. None of them appear to clash, expect for the SMB3 background of that one minigame.

Otherwise, great grpahics!
*blush*
Yeah, I have a tendency to be terrible with clashing stuff. Hopefully I can find some more suitable backgrounds in the future.

The biggest downside of this game, is the replay value. Because there is only four minigames, and it lacks multiplayer. But, since you earn Star Coins when you are ready to close the game, I'll give this a 4.
Yeah, this was probably the hardest part of developing this game for me. It may not seem like it, but making just one game can and will take an absurdly high amount of time (weeks to months) and perfecting it can take just as long.

Thanks a ton for the review!

I didn't take a look at the code because I'm lazy, but it looks good for the most part. Can't say I'm a fan of the clunky stagger-toward-wall/warp-to-jump through collisions, though.

For the MIDI thing - you can try just altering/applying the/a soundfont for/to it.

There is pillowshading everywhere. I'd suggest altering your lightsource and using brighter and less saturated colors.
Feb 24 2015, 4:27 AM See Page
Not really BIS style at all (shading, colors, and contrast are very inaccurate), but still useful.

At first glance, I love this.

Very neat fangame! Loads of polish and content as well. Will admit I thought some of the design/user interface choices were a bit odd (or irksome) but I very much appreciate the incredible amounts of time effort that was put into this game.

Not bad, but they look like they're suffering from pillow-shading - and some lack of shading as well - which gives them a dull and flat appearance, but I still like them.

Also sorry to hear about your project. It looked really promising. :(

Honestly I'm not really excited for Mario Kart 8. I was when it was announced, but not so much anymore. I think I'll just stick with my MKW copy until 8's price drops. I never purchase DLC either, but it seems cool nonetheless, I guess.
