Pros | -Few genuine laughs in there |
Cons | -But those laughs are far and few between -The game likes to rely on its randomness -That means the gameplay has incredibly basic structure -You either go on a boring platforming level or spam the Spacebar to shoot something. That's what makes up the majority of the gameplay, anyway. -Even then, cheap enemy placement and one-hit deaths can occur -The game is flat-out ugly, with a poor music choice being the icing on the turd cake |
Gameplay 3 / 10 |
Where is the focus? The platforming in the game is as basic as it can get. You move slowly as you avoid moving Google images of objects. Just a shame that one may randomly pop up and kill you in one hit, making you restart the level. And don't even get me started with how you are REQUIRED to GLITCH through floors in some parts. And then there's the levels that consist of just shooting a giant object. You spam the Spacebar while avoiding anything flying towards you. Somehow, even that gets tedious. There are a few more gameplay styles, but they're mainly modified versions of these up here. For example, Luigi goes platforming in one level, but has to collect 10 cards. And in another level, the Bros have to fall from the sky while avoiding things. |
Graphics 2 / 10 |
Obviously, Supernova has taken inspiration from Mushroom Pancakes. Quite a bit of the visual humor features words of objects representing those objects. For some reason, my reaction to that humor here was the opposite of my reaction for Mushroom Pancakes's. It's likely because it felt very forced here, especially considering this game is all about its random idiocy. This couldn't be any more obvious with the dialogue being misspelled to the point where people that use Twitter would facepalm at it. Plus, the game just looks UGLY. The hand-drawn images couldn't look any sloppier, and while I did get a laugh from Obama making a hastily-implemented appearance via Google images, that's the best the game was able to do for me. |
Sound 4 / 10 |
I give this game credit for not using any generic Mario tune. However, nearly the whole soundtrack is something I'd be better off without, as it overall feels poor and thrown together all over the place. Not even Mario's "Hoopla!" or Luigi's "GOL-DAN!" jump voice clips can save it. |
Replay 3 / 10 |
You're better off with Let's Go Thingio. |

Mushroom Pancakes is a HUMOR game. Not a Joke game. They're different. A Joke Game tends to be crappy on purpose, with random & unexpected stuff, and mainly for the lulz. Now about Normal Super Mario Bros, I can't tell what game is it... |

And being crappy on purpose doesn't score it any points. |
