General Commentary and Game Overview
Super Mario Bros Remasted is just than new smb clone with bad control, blocks that not open and much glitches. At least not the worst smb clone out there but not the recomended. The graphic looks bad, sound clash and the overall gameplay is poor, not recomended.

The gameplay it's not very good, first of the hit detection is horrible, open the ? or breaking than brick can cost many trys and the liminated jumping did not make it anny easyer either, the block seem to only react from the left, try and break then brick or open than ? block from the right seem impossible even you hit under it, but from the left can you open it if you hit the site of it realy bad.

Than another thang thats harder than it should be is to in jump over thing when the ceiling is to low, when you hit the ceiling is it very hard to move in the air, this should not be than necessary since it is not than challenge you usaly meat in than game but you do in this one.

The control is broken to, first of you jump with shift and run with ctrl so your jumpin is liminated something that can be than problem if there is under 5 secounds bitween the enemies, and when the buttons are set up like that can it sometimes be a little bit hard to make than run jump.

Than another thing is that you can't duck, there is not many enemies as come above you so it is not than big deal but it still could be than use full thing for example if you shald enter than pipe or if there came a enemie above you, even how much you are going to use it i still think that than smb clone should have duck button.

The challenge it's not to great either, mostly of the times i die are becuase the control diden't response and stupid resons like that. There is no time limit so there is no extra challenge there, later in the game dose you meat moving camera something as you not did in the orginal smb but it is a cool thing so i let it go.

The level design are not very good either, not to frustrating but not the best playing thing i ever seen, the first level are remaked from the orginal smb so it is good but rest of them are just bad, espacally the castle level, that one is just frustrating, rest of them barely pass but i did not like them.

Mostly of the game was just boring and frustrating, the bad control and the ? block's that won't open and the bad level design realy broke the funfactor, it could have been fun, there exist some fun smb clones but this is not one of these, at least this is not the worst.

The last thing i like to mention is the meny, normaly i would not talk so much about the meny but this one is so wierd that i had to tell about it. First you are in than little room with 4 differen blocks one for new game, one for load game, one for quit game and one for info, these are the only block i have found in the game that actually response at the first hit.

When you hit the new game you start the game, the load game did i not get to work not that i tryed so many time but when i hit it i get than message as i can abort or ignore, if i ignore i restart the meny and i abort i quit the game, if i het the quit i get the message (you want to quit this awesome game), even if the game was awesome or not i don't think it shald call out it self like that, and the info box is empty.

Over all i did not like this game very much, there is allot of work to do but it's at least not the worst smb clone on the site but it could have been allot better.

The graphic is not that great either, some sprites looks decent but much of the graphic just look bad, the simple graphics like bricks look ok, the ? block flash a little bit to fast and i think they look a little bit to yellow, and when you open the ? block it turn gray instand of brown.

And i did not like the ground tiles very much either, i just simply did not like the shate on it, and some of the blocks dose even not look like it is edited from smb, the pipe is way to dark and when you go to the underground dose everything turn dark exept for the sprites.

The sprites are not the best thing i ever seen, the overworld goombe look ok but the i did ont like the underground one, and i think koopas head look a little bit to grey, i did not like the Mario sprite very much, Mario could have looked way better, i just don't like the colors at him, in my opinion did not the pallet match him very well.

The main problem with the graphic is the colors, i think the colors could have been way better, some of the colors are decent like the ground but one thing i not liked is that the castle did not have the same pallet as the ground, instand is it darker, i am not sure about why it look like that.

And the undersground is to dark, it is combinated with blue and black, i know that it is supossed to look dark but the thing that bother me is that not all the sprites turn dark so the lighter sprites slighty clash and when you open the ? block dose it turn into the same gray color as in the overworld, and the underworld goomba are colored bad.

There is no background either and i mean no, there is no hils, no clouds no bushes nothing, even not in the org smb remaked and it looks realy boring, i know there not was many backgrounds in the 8 bit Mario games but it could at least have some hils and bushes.

Once i again i had to mention the meny, it even look worse thin it play, the tiliset are bland btween over world, underworl and gray with swapt shate, the block are pretty bland to but they look ok it is the overall design that bothered me.

Overall the graphic is not so bad as the gameplay but there is way btter smb edits and some of them are on sheet to.

The sound is pretty bland, the music are 16 and the sound effects are 8 bit, it is not the best mix but i have heard worse mixes so i let it go but the main problem is that all the music are used to many times before, in the overworld dose it use the 16 bit SMB theme and the 16 bit unground theme in the underground, the only thing i don't get is why dose than the castle use the yi castle theme but it's not a problem but it just stand out a bit.

I did not like the sound effects, the problem with the sound is that the sound effects is to loud compared to the music and rest, i think it could have been better whit the 16 bit sound effects, and the springuse the same sound effects as the item come out of the block something as not fit.

Overall the sound was not good, it was to bland it would have been better with only 16bit sound.

The game is frustrating, have bad control and it is unfinnished, it's not worth than replay, there is game i much either would pic up if i get bored. And i did not played very long either, i tuerned it of before the end of the demo so overall the replay is bad.

Just than basic smb clone with bad control, bad glitches and blocks that not want to work and overused engine, not good

These where different times back in 2008 when the accepted standard for reviews was pretty low and a 16 years old Norwegian Boy could write a poorly written review in part English and part Scandinavian and still get it accepted by the staff for the whole world to see.
