I edited the SMB2 Shy Guys a bit to match the SMB1 style. Give credit if used, please.

But then it wouldn't match SMB1.

Personally I would've colored them to match Goombas if the black strap is so mandatory, but otherwise, good job.

These are actually really nice! I might try to do something SMB1-y so I can get some use out of them!

Doesn't the nes technically have more than 3 colors?

Every time this is said, it has to be explained that games that had more than three colors on a character are using more than one sprite.

Well... That is true! Most if not all sprites are 8x8 or 8x16 depending on a certain sprite mode in game. So larger sprites are made of multiple 8x8 or 8x16 sprites, That also means you can make some sprite tiles use a different palette which is where what you just said comes in.

I'd probably end up copying somebody else's sprites, as they've made Shy Guys, Snifits, and a couple other sprites in SMB1 already, along with more styles. I'll find the sheet and put it in this post whenever I can.

This isn't an exact remake of the Shy Guy put into SMB1. I gave it my best, but it won't be anything Nintendo can make if they ever do this.

I used black since it's the color of the eyes on the Shy Guy's mask.

Yes, but that might've been from editing the limits of the NES itself. I'd look it up, but I'd rather leave that to you. :P

That's not what I meant. I mean instead of the red and yellow you used, I personally would've used the brown and tan from Goombas. Alternatively I would've used the full palette from Koopas, being the red for the body and eyes, white for the mask and shoes, and yellow for the strap. But I'm mainly just discussing what I would've done.

I see you're trying to follow the limited amount of like 4 palettes schemes per background tiles/sprites the NES can have instead of having like a thousand different ones. Nice! Also... How is no one noticing the double commenting I accidentally made? I guess were not mentioning that?

I did notice that, I just thought you'd delete it, or edit it.

Wait... You can delete your own comments? HOW??? I've been having this problem lately where I accidentally upload a duplicate comment by trying to edit it. Knowing this would have helped a lot!

This sheet was posted in 2018, and that game came out in 2019.

So yes, but also no, because it didn't exist back then.
